    the phone attendant is horrible! why cant we just push 1 for help.
    it never transfers me to the correct department

    I agree. I switched to U-verse almost 2 years ago. Guy who sold it to us said, "You're going to love this! You'll get lightning fast download speeds! We want you to be happy so you'll tell all your friends and neighbors!" Horrible, horrible, horrible. Billing problems, technical support, the merger with yahoo, the nightmares go on and on. Worst mistake ever. I would switch in a heartbeat but there's no other choice in my area code for hi-speed internet besides comcast.

    Found out not long ago from a friend who's a technician with AT&T who said, "AT&T cut support for the residential market. They're only interested in the corporate and international accounts. They really don't care if you stay or leave." It shows! I tell everyone I meet who's "thinking" about switching to U-verse: Don't! If you have a choice!

    I have been Tech Support for just over 3 years now and we are growing!
    Now I am not saying the service is perfect for everyone, but it does work for hundreds of thousands of members every day.
    There are also those little things like sales people that are not really knowledgeable on what Uverse can and cannot do, so they make statements that are not completely true, but these are mostly the door to door salesmen but not always.
    My dept deals with these issues on a one to one basis until they are resolved, that way you would have a single point of contact instead of getting a different agent everytime you call in.
    I hope your issues have been resolved, if not I would be happy to take a look at your account and see what can be done. I also extended this invitation to Waldo, but never got a reply, so I can only assume his issues have been resolved

    I understand and admire your loyalty, Zeus. The problems (mostly billing) were so legion for so many months that it left a permanent bad taste in my mouth for AT&T. It wasn't just the salesman's patter, it was the indifference and stonewalling we got for months from the first-level phone support.

    After the first 3 months of U-Verse hell, a more seasoned technician was finally dispatched -- oh, I almost forgot! -- to fix the problems created by the initial inside wiring of U-verse. He was so appalled and apologetic about the shoddy installation that he took an armload of cable back to AT&T that he had had to pull out and re-do. He said, "The next time we have a staff meeting I'm going to hold up this up and give <name deleted> hell in front of everybody for doing such a crappy install!"

    Nothing is going to erase my AT&T bad experience.
