Did I do a good job of retouching this one

I am only now begining to know PS CS2. The damn thing is surely the most complicated piece of s/w package EVER !!

Any advice for a newbie? (I rememeber Xev being a Guru in PS)

Anyway here's an original shot straight out of my FZ7

and this is the best I could do in PS CS2

I was fooling around and don't even remember how I reached here out of all those levels, curves, hue/ saturation, contrast and shadow/highlight tools

Any comments or even an attempt to retouch the originals??

yes. i actually CAN help you on this one. when you open up the image in ps cs2 go to image>adjustments> and there is auto contrast, auto color, and the other auto one (i cant install it until i get my own comp and i cant remember things off the top of my head right now). thats usually all i do with my drawings, and i don't actually do photomanips in ps unless its for shits n giggles. but, if you want a tutorial, go here...http://www.%%%%%%%%%%.com/deviation/32940552/

you can also use the search bar on top for more tutorials. get at devart account man, i would love to see your photography as you post it. plus, unless you want to sell prints, its free.

auto levels is the other one. I use that a lot for quick fixes.

OOH OOH OOH another auto leveler!!! I use auto levels quite often in my shots. I get mixed results with it though. Sometimes they turn out great and sometimes they don't look good at all. One way to make sure the auto level tool will work is to look at your histogram, if you aren't over exposed or under exposed (at least not severely either way) the auto level tool should work great! This, of course, is my opinion. I know lots of people who won't use the auto level tool at all, they say it's the easy way out....frig them I say....it works for me.

Oh and I think your retouch came out great! You made the leaves POP against the water and the the sun shining through to the bottom of the pool looks clean and crisp. Keep em' coming

thanks for the replies everyone....most folks at photography forums seem to hate everything in PS that starts with Auto...LOL !!!

BTW, I found that shadow/ highlight tool is also very interesting....typical PS..10 different ways to do the same thing !!
