Re: game systems and best game for it
Ummm, there is a video game forum to put this stuff in, plus that's pretty stupid to pick a game that isn't even out yet as the best game for a system.

MMkay, moved to Gaming forum. Please post threads in appropriate forums, unless there is a (good) reason for you to post them in BOTH i.e. you need answers right away for a computer virus, so you put it in a place that has high traffic, instead of the Computer forum.

Re: game systems and best game for it
Alright, unless you're going for first party titles alone Crash on the PS is inexcusable. Maybe you remember a little game called FINAL FANTASY VII. To that extent, I've never even heard of Shadow of Colossus (yes, I'm gonna look it up), but I'm fully prepared to argue that it is not the best game on that system. If you want first party titles you've got either of the Gran Turismo games. Outside of that there are games like FFX. I get the feeling a lot of hardcore gamers would also have a problem with Halo 2 for the x-box. My personal nomination would be Morrowind, but I'm sure there are other worthy candidates. Hell, Halo 2 isn't even the best game in it's genre anymore. I believe Far Cry: Instincts holds that honor on the x-box.. Anyway, sorry man, but this is a swing and a miss.

Re: game systems and best game for it
Well it is stupid to put the best game for the system even though it didnt come out yet....But this is Zelda we are talking about. Remember Ocarina of Time? (O Shoot, i didn't even put the 64 in there, but the best 64 game is Ocarina of Time, HANDS DOWN!)....But twilight Princess for gamecube looks AMAZING. Halo2 is the best game in its genre because of its multiplayer, at any given moment there are millions of people logged into Halo2, and XBOX Live + Halo2 = Best gaming experience.
And I withdraw my crash bandicoot pick for the PS1. FFVII definately takes the cake (I forgot about it cause I played it PC).....and Shadow of Colussus...well just play it (I never liked Racing names except for Rad Racer with the 3D glasses for the NES)

Re: game systems and best game for it
Never even heard of some of those on your list, like Shadow of the Colossus on the PS2. My personal favorite on the PS2 is probably Final Fantasy 10.
Here is your list updated with the top selling video games for each console based on the number of reported sales alone. Some are unavailable. Marketing plays a big factor in the numbers of course, as does the number of games produced for each console if you are comparing them all...
1. NES - Super Mario Bros (40.24 million)
2. GAMEBOY SP - Super Mario World (18.06 million)
3. SUPER NINTENDO - Super Mario World (17 million)
4. PS2 - Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (12 million)
5. N64 - Super Mario 64 (11.62 million)
6. PC Games - The Sims (11 million)
7. PLAYSTATION - Grand Turismo (10.5 million)
8. XBOX - Halo 2 (6.3 million)
9. GAMECUBE - Super Smash Bros. Melee (4 million)
10. NINTENDO DS - Nintendogs (1.75 million)
11. SEGA SATURN - Virtua Fighter 2 (1.7 million)
12. Sega Dreamcast - Sonic Adventure (1.05 million)
Here are the top 20 best selling games of all time by individual sales and their consoles (sales of games that came bundled with the consoles are not included).
Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES - 17.28 Million)
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PS2 - 12 Million)
Super Mario Land 2 (Game Boy - 11.09 Million)
Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec (PS2 - 11 million)
Gran Turismo (PS1 - 10.5 million)]]
Gran Turismo 2 (PS1 - 8.5 million)
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (PS2 - 8.5 Million)
Super Mario Kart (SNES - 8 Million)
Final Fantasy VII (PS1 - 7.8 Million)
Super Mario Bros. 2 (NES - 7.46 Million)

Re: game systems and best game for it
I humbly submit that sales statistics are worthless in determining the merit of any game. As we all know there are a lot of idiots out there who will buy something just because someone else told them it was cool.
