Condoms break for a few reasons:
1. Old and brittle (takes a couple months of sitting in the sun to get this way)
2. You're too big for it and stretch it out
3. You've been banging too long, dried up the lube and she's starting to dry up, which stretches the condom and breaks it.

I've broken condoms before, but very rarely. It's not something that happens easily, unless you're too stupid to buy the right size. Buy a box of Trojans with Spermicidal Lubricant and just enjoy it. Don't expect either of you to cum the first time. Condoms can break, but it doesn't mean they will, just read the directions and don't keep going if it starts to get all dried out. If all of a sudden it starts feeling REALLY good, or you feel a snap, pull out real quick to make sure it didn't break. Unless you have a monstrous dick, you should be fine with a regular condom, but get good ones, like Trojans, relax, and use your head.

If she is willing to let you bang it out, go for it. So what if she isn't all about using a condom. If you are really serious about being safe use one. You can tell her that if this thing doesn't break we have potentially prevented an unwanted baby, and if it does break it will have the same result as if i didn't use a condom. On top of that you can pick up some lub/spermicide lotion at any pharmacy or sex shop that can be rubbed around her hole that will offer extra protection.

A side option (if no one said it already):

Depo Provera: it's a shot every 3 months, my wife was on it before we were married. She got OFF it because it kind of levels you out (as far as your libido) after a while. We just stick to condoms now, which are reported at 99.5% effectiveness.

You know where that .5% comes from? Stupidity.

Double-wrapping, not lubricating, not putting it on correctly, using condoms that are too old, using ones that don't fit...bla bla bla.

My wife and I have been using them for over a year now with no problems. We just have a pump-bottle of ID Millenium by the bed, and if it starts to get a little dry, you just grab another squirt, slap it on, and keep going.

Those things are pretty resilient any more. You should get one, unwrap it, and just put it through stress tests (like stretching, twisting, etc) to show her how effective they are. I'll have one on (we use ultra-thin, by the way, so this is even more impressive to me) for a good 40 minutes some times, we'll both finish, and I'll still be able to stretch the damn thing like a rubber band trying to take it off. They're THAT safe.

Hell, my in-laws used strictly condoms for 10 years with no mistakes. It's all in how smart you are about it.
