A man was arrested Tuesday for breaking into a home and stealing two cases of beer, an open bottle of Captain Morgan's Rum and a 10-speed mountain bike.
Hartley, 40, broke into a home, according to police reports.
After stealing the items, Hartley stood in the front yard of the residence and began drinking out of the Captain Morgan's Rum bottle.
He then attempted to trade bottles of beer in exchange for cigarettes with two construction workers in the neighborhood.
The construction workers said Hartley was a previous co-worker recently fired for stealing, the report stated.
Witnesses said they saw Hartley running down the street chasing a dog that was inside the residence.
Hartley admitted he has a serious drinking problem and needs help. He also said he loved the residents and was sorry for what he had done, according to police reports.

I love that, he steals the booze and then STANDS OUTSIDE DRINKING IT.
The only surprise here is that he was 40, not 20. Musta been one of the darkies from East Gainesville.

Considering the source (UF) not too surprising.
It took UofF 3 years to figure out that the picture on their Media Guide was a crocodile and not an alligator.
