I've been having a lot of trouble lately with torrents. When they get to about 98.5% finished they pretty much stop downloading and won't resume. People can upload off of me, but I am havin a hell of a time downloadin...sometimes the filesize also goes over the listed size of the file. I'm using Azureus 2.3.0.4...anyone know whats going on?

Re: Problems with Torrents

If it stops at 98.5%, and won't seem to keep going, it's because whoever originally hosted the file disconnected that file. They've got the last 1.5% and won't give it up. Many times when this happens, they are just playing with people using fake files.

Also, going over the listed amount will happen because you may download the same part twice, or may download currupted material. It's not unusual to go over the listed amount, but if no seeds get online with that file, you'll never be able to get all of it.

Re: Problems with Torrents

Alright, thanks that clears some stuff up. I got one more question. Since, I have around 98.5% of the torrent downloaded, can I just stop the download and view what I have downloaded. The torrents are of tv shows, avi's and mpeg's mostly. I've tried to do this, my default media player is winamp and it doesn't seem to be working. Anything I need to know to be able to view them?

Re: Problems with Torrents

Sometimes. I don't remember if Azeraus adds a different file extension like the client I use, bitcomet. if they do, you may have to rename them, or tell your player to look for that extension. I prefer WMP, but if the AVI files are DivX, then you'll need the codec from www.divx.com But remember, it depends on which part of the file you don't have. If you don't have the begining of the file, a player probably won't recognize it, but if it's the end of the file, you may get to see part of it.
