Extra time is extra time. You can't give extra outs in baseball.

Like I said....there's a big difference in 2:00 and 2:52 on a football time clock.

Re: Clock Error in Pats-Steelers Game

From the NFL.com Game Center.

quote:New England Patriots at 01:14

1-10-NE38 (1:14) (Shotgun) T.Brady pass to K.Faulk pushed ob at PIT 45 for 17 yards (J.Farrior).

1-10-PIT45 (1:06) (Shotgun) T.Brady pass to P.Pass ran ob at PIT 31 for 14 yards. Penalty on PIT-D.Townsend, Illegal Contact, declined.

1-10-PIT31 (:57) C.Dillon up the middle to PIT 31 for no gain (C.Haggans, C.Hampton).

2-10-PIT31 (:50) T.Brady pass to D.Givens to PIT 25 for 6 yards (I.Taylor).

3-4-PIT25 (:05) A.Vinatieri 43 yard field goal is GOOD, Center-L.Paxton, Holder-J.Miller.

NE 23 PIT 20, Plays: 5 Yards: 37 Possession: 1:20.

The time between the givens 6 yard catch and the field goal was 45 seconds. The Dillon run for not gain was 7 seconds. That's 52 seconds right there.

In addition, the field goal was made on 3rd down, so if you delete the Dillon run and let Brady spike the ball after Given's reception, then the phantom 52 seconds makes no difference.

Okay....now I'm just arguing for the sake of arguing...but 52 secs could mean a Pittsburgh drive and a last second FG to tie the game.

But like I said...for the sake of arguing.

I have to agree, Sir_D - you would be crying foul, if it had happened the other way.

Either way, since it was 14 minutes to go, the effect is not as bad as if it was 4 minutes.

And with the clock running with 52 seconds less, may have chnaged the way the Steeler's called plays and or how the Pat's used TO's.

We won't know. It was a bad thing.

Also, when you say "Phantom" interference, you are saying that from REPLAY and not the officials view. He saw what he saw. Replay showed a Different angle.

That is how they go.

I was rooting for Pitt - but oh well.

Either way, I still think the Pats aren't going all the way this year.

I too was rooting for the Steelers.

I like seeing Tom Brady lose, what of it?

I like the Steelers... not nearly as much as the Dolphins, but I still like em. Plus, any team playing the Patriots is automatically my 2nd favorite team. :happycow:

It will be hard for the pats this year but you can't stay on top for too long in the NFL.

Here we go again. You just don't seem to fuckin give up do you?

What exactly did I say in the original post that "burns you up" ?

I made a statement based on facts, there is no opinion in my statement.

If the game did not have 52 extra seconds, then they would not have kicked that field goal. I understand that the game would have played out differently and they might have won anyway, and the Steelers might not have tied it up and so on and so forth.

I said it was shitty for the Steelers cause they lost, not because they would have won.

Anyway Joe, how was the game? I'm very jealous that you were at the game and got to see your team play. Looks like your Broncos are gonna be the better team this year than the Raiders.

Fixed. Is that more acceptable?

Or wait...

OK, that's better.

No, seriously, your original post implies that only AFTER the Steelers tied the game was the time added. Seemingly just to make it easier for the Pats to roll down the field exploiting Cowhers weak-ass cover 2 defense. That's all.
