Safe mode
Safe mode with cmd propt
best known configuration
windows normally
plus i formatted and and tried to repair the operating system on the drive with windows xp home and it still didnt work everytime it goes back to the same blue screen it states that there is a registry error and a recent hardware or software configuration could of caused it i dont know if my hard drive went out or what i am thinking my hard drive went out because it seems like everytime i tried to access my hard drive in what shape or form of a way it goes back to that blue screen..does anybody out there have a similar problem as me...if so how did you over come to fix it?

Re: Blue Screen Of Death

Well, just now a fast shot.
The problem can have more very possible causes, but in most times its the hd.
The BOD occurs most probably short after the windows splash screen.
You can look at windows.com for the excact meaning of the BOD.

Or -if you have a 2nd hd, install at this one windows.
But that would mean, that you are sure about the hd as problem.
In some cases (that means normaly on some systems :happycow: ) just an USB-Plug can cause such screens, or a damaged or wrong pinned cable to your hd.

If you changed the IDE-Cables, moved them, installed a 2nd hd and so on, try the cables b4 buying or installing the 2nd drive.

The fastest way is unplugging all usb and starting the pc to check if thats the cause.

Re: Blue Screen Of Death

Repairing the win files through xp repair does not change the registry at all. It doesn't even look at it as it tries to leave all your preferences(even the bad ones) as is. If the problem is definately in the registry then do a full format of the drive. Not a quick as that only deletes the files and leaves crap all over the hd.
Try and read files off that hd from another computer. if you can then that's a good sign. the hd's not buggered, next run a scandisk on that drive from the other computer. you're looking for MBR faults first up. next try to boot that computer from that hd. If it boots fine then you can say it's a Hardware failure in your pc.
Then work your way through disconnecting the various components of your system until you find the one that's freezing on initiation. Could be any of your devices still running in safe mode. ie CD, Modem, RAM, HD(if more than one is used) and that lovely graphics card. there's others too. USB equipment like mice and keyboard. ESP if you set a keyboard to the wrong type while setting up windows.
hope this helps.
Karearea.

Re: Blue Screen Of Death

Delete Windows, Embrace Linux!

Well, its the registry, the hd, or some sort of internal component gone bad.
You should backup explorer.exe and the other usefull files. Some Trojans
attack it directly or some component rendering the system useless. Also
there is a lovlely viris that killed me once written in VB. It randomly currupted
files on my HD every 1 minute!

Well, thats all I can say.
