ISP Email
When I signed up recently for internet, my ISP said I have email accounts. Now, as a former Computer Information Systems major, I should know this stuff but if you noticed "former" then here we go.
I don't have outlook, does anyone have any suggestions on programs I could use to access those email accounts? And how do I set those up?
Thanks for any advice, and when I say any, I mean it.

Re: ISP Email
Go to your ISP mainpage and login to your account, you will need to create your email accounts in there somewhere.
My suggestion, use Outlook 2003. Second choice, Outlook Express, and attach each mailbox you create in there.

Re: ISP Email
There is webmail like hijacker has stated.
However there is Mozilla Thunderbird - just as easy to configure and a good stable open source email program. Its what i use

Eudora
There is a free mode with no ads (but less features) and then there is a sponsored mode, which is the pro version with all the features, but ads display in a little window (not popups or anything... kinda like hotmail type ads)
Anyhow, I used the free version for years and loved it.

Re: ISP Email
oh and whatever you download...
you will need this information:
email username (either your email address, or the part before the "@" sign)
email password
email servers
the "incoming" email server is usually mail.ispname.com, or sometimes, pop.ispname.com, or sometimes pop3.ispname.com
The "outgoing" mail server is either the same as the incoming, or on occassion it will be smtp.ispname.com
If you try all of those combinations, I'd say you have a 99% chance of finding the right settings.
Every mail program requires all of that information, too.

Why don't you look up his IP, find his ISP, and we can give him the exact instructions
(I'm going for the trifecta post here)

Re: ISP Email
Thanks for everyone's feedback, I got it all figured out. I just stuck with Outlook Express, but I'll look into the other programs that you all mentioned.
Thanks again.

Re: ISP Email
You're going to stick with Outlook Express and yet you're a Computer Information Systems major (whatever the hell that is)?
Good thing I'm in your address book.
So good luck with all of the security holes and viruses that OE attracts.
