Need a new computer. Help

click on one of our sponsors! OR REMOVE ADS
I dont know whats good and whats not. Im looking to spend no more than $3000..

I want it primarily for Gaming, but need it to do multimedia, use photoshop and then the basics.

Any Suggestions? FYI.. i suck at building a PC so unless its WAY cheaper to do so I would just want to buy it already built.

Thanks

Re: Need a new computer. Help

Use a Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo P myself
Pentium 4, XP sp 2, 512ram, 2GB virtual memory, NVIDIA geforce fx5500, dvd burner, 17" lcd screen etc.
Got it all for about €1500, convert that to U.S. dollars is about the same.
No complaints, good enough make.

For $3,000.00 you could put a downpayment on a Harley and piss on the computer.

Re: Need a new computer. Help

Dude Can,t go wrong with dell.
The only problem with dell is that it won,t be upgradable in the future,
but with what you got you won,t have to worry about that for a looooong time.
Nice job. I hope to get a dual core soon.
What kind of benchmarks are you getting.
I usually use the free downloads from futurmark.com

Re: Need a new computer. Help

No shops in your area custom build pc's for customers? That way you could have gotten a real good deal on the hardware I think, maybe with 7800GTX, AMD-FX57, 2G RAM, etc. The guides section at anandtech.com would have had something for you, for high-end gaming.

Re: Need a new computer. Help

A benchmarking progarm test how your system will run 3D-games. You get points on the vidoecard, soundcard etc., and you can compare it to other computers, see if the system is good (big) enough for the pc-games you want to play.
