how badass would it be if they made a diablo 3?

Hi there.

No chance unfortunately, World of Warcraft is most of the remaining teams total focus, pretty much all of Blizzard North (the Diablo team) left after a dispute with Vivendi, and most went on to make Guild Wars. Even Starcraft: Ghost (a waste of a brilliant alternate RTS license) has been pushed back while they continue to improve WoW.

On the plus side, Dungeon Siege II is almost ready, and from playing the demo I can say its gonna be a whole lot better than the first one (which i personally liked anyway but meh) and unlike some toss i could mention (Blade & Sword, Sacred) it could well be a worthy replacement

What they really need to do is make a StarCraft 2, but yeah they have some work to do with WoW first. They can easily hire in more people to make a Diablo 3, StarCraft 2, or whatever. They're making enough money now with WoW, and I'm sure they already have another team of people working on an expansion for WoW.

The problem is that the creative team that made Diablo 2 what it was has pretty much completely left. They can of course bring in a whole new team to work on Diablo 3, but it would be almost guaranteed to dramatically change the feel of the game due to the difference in creative direction.

ive been poking around their website for a while, and i have been checking the job oppurtunities section, for more than one reason(i am a perspective character modeler, which is aside from the point), anywho i have been seeing job openings such as lead game designer as well as modeling jobs, which gives me some kind of hunch they are starting something new.. im pretty sure with such a HUGE fan base for d2, they will make a d3, just a matter of time.. i may be wrong, but unless they are making sc2 or a completely new game, i think new game is in order, its suprisingly already been 6 years since its release and it is going strong still

Diablo 2 kind of sucked anyway, it was fun to go through once but I thought the replayability of it was poor. I hope Diablo 3, if they ever make one, is a lot different anyway. I think it's the worst of all the Blizzard games.

good god this thread is old, seeing as Starcraft: Ghost is no longer in production, StarCraft 2 is nearly finished and Diablo 3 is in full production right now
