Any Good P2P programs nowadays??
I was wondering if there were any good file sharing programs out there that is used primarily for music. Currently, I have ares lite and have noticed that the number of files have signifigantly decreased over time. I guess I am just interested in what you guys use and what you would reccommend. Thanks

Re: Any Good P2P programs nowadays??
I'm currently working on a combination of BitTorrent for entire albums, and KazaaLite (MAKE SURE IT'S THE LITE VERSION!) for individual songs.
However, I'd much rather rip my own songs from other peoples CDs, so I don't make much use of either for such purposes.

Re: Any Good P2P programs nowadays??
Thanks for the reply. I like to rip buddies CD but every once and a while I come across a cd that gives me problems. I use CDex for that. As for kazaa lite, I had that and was not too impressed with it.

I have found this to be the best method also. With the bit torrents I can dl'ed an entire album in 30min. if its popular. As for KazzaLite I use one called KazaaLite Resurrection. I downloaded one with KazaaLite and another with BitLord.

Re: Any Good P2P programs nowadays??
I'll agree with the BitTorrent, but I can't agree, these days, with the Kazaa any version.
WinMX however I still like, surprisily the RIAA and everyone else doens't seem to be watching WinMX and it's networks nearly as much if at all.
IRC is also still a good choice. Not ideal for the standard P2P but it works and personally I feel it's a bit more of a guaranty that you'll get the file and sometimes faster.
With BitTottent yes you can get it faster because it's possible to get it from more than one source, unlike IRC, however the file has to be seeding but a buttload of people. I started a download of BloodRayne 2 for the PC 4 days ago using BitTorrent, it never finished. I also started another DL of it using IRC 1 day later, the first one FUBAR (long and confusing story), but I was about to re-DL it again with in a day and a half and the BT download said it still needed atleast 2days. The DL size was about 3GB.
20 seeds but only got up to 10k/s with BT. 1 person DL with IRC averaged 40k/s.
You're mileage may vary.

My experience would vote against WinMX, it just doesn't have a very good selection in my experience.

Re: Any Good P2P programs nowadays??
Depends on how you search.
I found stuff for a buddy of mine and many of which he didn't expect but was thrilled to get. (he was on dial-up at the time)
Kazaa, ok I'll agree it might be some what easier to find some things, but you are connected to a single network (WinMX has their network and can connect to 100s of OpenNap servers as well) plus you're more likely to get viruses (and the alike).
I've downloaded things (music, movies and warez) that were labled one thing and turns out to be something completely different and it's happened quite a lot, a friend on mine downloaded Lord Of The Rings once, or atleast he thought he did, but it turned out to be a girl getting fucked by a horse.
Plus Kazaa (even the hacked versions) just installs too much crap that I don't need and that I don't trust.

Re: Any Good P2P programs nowadays??
Well argued.
But I guess you'll be staying on WinMX, and I'll be staying on BT (I don't even have KLite installed on either of my computers anymore)

I have to take that back! It is adware/spyware!! Other than that it seems great. But I uninstalled and am looking for another good one without adware/spyware.
