Except for the guys who made a roster only by a twist of fate, it's about making as much money as you can. Everyone from NFL merchandising to United Way to Madden 2005 are making shitloads of money off these guys. There is nothing wrong with getting their share, unless they make the system go broke i.e., the NHL.

Maybe if they had handled the whole situation, he could have been working on a deal. 7 Mill is not chump change.
