How do YOU do it? (mostly for guys, but ladies opinions welcome)
Ok, I like to keep my area trimmed, if not shaved... but the problem I have been having when completely shaving is knicking and cutting. Now this is not fun or anything, so guys I ask you, how do you shave down there without cutting yourself up?

Never had that problem. I've cut myself with clippers tho...not fun. Just use a fairly new blade each time. Use lots of conditioner (softens hair) and go to town.

i know you said this is mostly for the guys, but who knows better how to shave than a girl??? my advice would be to use the conditioner, like juan said, let it sit in for a few minutes and then use a newer blade, and dont push super hard, also ive found that if you shave with the way the hair grows instead of just going against the grain first, then it gets most of the longer hairs out of the way or at least shortens then, and you have less of a chance of razor burn and what not... BUT make sure not to push hard!! you will give yourself razor burn this way, and it hurts like a bitch!!

Trimmer (with a fairly short guard) to the main part, and then go over the rest with an un-guarded trimmer.
No razor burn or ingrown hairs, and if you're careful, no worries about cutting yourself.

Re: How do YOU do it? (mostly for guys, but ladies opinions welcome)
As a bodybuilder, i shave my entire body. A soap made for a woman (i.e. Caress, Dove, etc.) is a great skin softener that makes the task much easier and resists razor burn. However, i must say that Nivea shave gel is my choice when shaving "the boys" and pubic area. I hope this helps.

Yes, girls are much more experienced with shaving down there.
Just use a new blade per shaving to ensure optimal shaving and just go nice and easy down there. Plus get something to soften up the hair as much as possible, like they said conditioner be good.
And ya razor burn down there can be very bad as girls I been with have gotten it and you don't wanna know that feeling.
Doing it after a shower or bath be best as well for obvious reasons.
For me personally with shaving down there, I really don't.
I do trim it up a bit but I don't go bald or close to bald down there.
Well, best of luck on shaving down there without knicking yourself and what not.

Gel shaving creme and a new razor with a steady hand should keep you scratch free.

Get used to it or try talcum powder.

I agree with what people here are saying.
New blade, good shave gel, trim first, then take your time. If you rush, you will cut yourself.
As for the itching, I use an unscented talcum power(baby powder), and you get used to it after a while.
Good luck.

if you get razor burn you are either pushing on the blade too hard or you are using a dull blade. to get rid of it you can use some aloe vera or an after shave lotion. i shave my head, my face and my pubes. i use Neutrogena - Razor Defense Face Lotion; i use this for my head and pubes, but i rarely get razor burn to begin with. you have to use a good quality razor also. i use a different blade for each activity, for my head i use MACH3. for my boys, i also use MACH3 but i have two different handles, so that i know which one is which. and for my face i use the gillette disposable.
hope that helps

Best soap I've found for trimming the greens is Miracle II soap
