Re: video card not working? HELP!

Since you used two diffenet cards, I would suspect your mobo got zapped while you where taking it out or putting it back in. Side note, did you remember to put you mobo standoffs back in after painting? I know some others have forgotten those and paid the price when the mobo shorted out because of it.

go into your settings on bootup, and reset all your IRQ channels. They will fill in the vaules automatically on bootup.

Your new Card might not be on the same channel causing this issue. Has happened to me before.

Re: video card not working? HELP!

If you think it's the PSU, then try this.
Disconnect everthing but the ATX cable (the big one that goes to the mobo). No HDD, no cd/dvd drives, no floppy, no case-fans, no extra lights, no what ever else. ONLY the mobo cable(s). If there is a case-fan connect directly to the mobo, disconnect it as well. Pull any USB and Firewire devices, not including the mouse and/or keyboard.

Your system will start up but you would of course get an error, but the key here is that all of the power can now only be consumed by the mobo itself, the video card along with any other cards on the mobo (which you can also pull if you really want to help out), and the CPU fan.

If after all of that you still get no image on both cards, then you need to have the cards tested. Put them in another system some where and see if they work there.
If you're mobo has on-board video, give that a try as well.
Also test the monitor on another system, not at the same time as testing the video cards.
If both the video cards and the monitor works on the other system, then your mobo is bad.

Do you know what the wattage is of your PSU?
From that, what are the rest of your specs?
CPU? Number of HDD? Number and type of CD/DVD drives? Number of case-fans, lighted and not-lighted? Make and model of GFX card? Number of USB and Firewire devices, including the mouse and keyboard (if both are PS/2 then skip it)? Number of sticks of RAM (strange as it might sound it does matter, the size of each stick doesn't)?
