Just my opinion,

Noone is really posting just yet. I guess people are trying to get there feet wet with the site. I would leave it open for now and then once traffic gets going i would make them register.

I also wonder this:
Would it be good to actually make people register with the site in order to view or post, however then you would get alot of dead weight (accounts) and they still would not post but just browse. Than later down the road you would be stuck cleaning out all the non-valid accounts.
