problem reinstalling windows
So, my internet connection stopped working one day. I went through this bullshit process of calling around trying to discover the problem and eventually had a technician come in. He said we gotta reinstall our windows.
We have windows 2000 proff.. The xp programs they currently sell that i'm aware of don't upgrade 2000 ---> XP. We don't have any win2000 or win98 program cds laying around either. So, I'm now lost as to how the hell I can reinstall windows and solve this problem.
If anyone encountered a similar problem here or has any useful advice, PLEASE FILL ME IN! Thank you.

Re: problem reinstalling windows
so... are you planning on installing winXP, or reinstalling win2k?
Do you actually OWN any version of windows? Did a version come with the computer?

Re: problem reinstalling windows
Don't tell anyone but I can hook you up with a stripped down version of XP. I have just about every windows operating system in fact. I can get you 2000 Pro, XP Home, XP Pro, XP Pro Stripped [smallest file to try and send] or 98SE.
PM me and I will hook you up.

format c:
install win98
done.
that's your only option, unless you plan to buy a new OS
I hate when people bitch that their illegally acquired software doesn't function properly

Re: problem reinstalling windows
Simply stated you need to format no matter what you do and make sure you have the right disc for legal purposes. If your really not sure check with a friend who is nto technically challeneged.

Re: problem reinstalling windows
back up your data, pop the XP cd in, reboot, press any key to boot from cd and then follow instructions.
I would reccomend deleting the old partion
Format NTFS
Happy computing
