Fuck yeah! I don't sign online for a month and google gives me some good news. Sure, the case is going to be very long and iffy, but I say Intel is definately guilty and is a piece of shit monopoly that needs to be brought down. Something I'm kinda worried about though, this might be AMD's last straw... any comments WR?

I don't know...I sell computers for a living and I really like AMD processors, it does seem that no matter what AMD does, Intel keeps gaining market share and AMD cannot get past a certain point. Now they both have Dual Core processors out, it will be interesting to see how the new release, along with the lawsuit affects both companies.

While Intel processors have never failed me, neither have AMD. In my limited experience and testing though I do find that Intel is usually a little bit faster when comparing similar speeds. I like AMD though because they are fighting against almost impossible odds and have a quality, less expensive product. But you're right, it's like they can't get passed a certain point.

This is an age old debateable topic much like the GNOME v KDE issue....

To me I like Intel - I have nothing against AMD I just dislike changing from something that I know that works...

In an update to this 'war' as I like to call it, AMD filed a lawsuitf or 50 mil vs. Intel in Japan just two days after the one in America. The Japanese government found Intel guilty a few years ago of illegal actions of some sort (something along the lines of being a monopoly/trust). I'm not discussing here which one is better by the way, I'm brining up that Intel is very much a monopoly (its also in bed with Microsoft, which the Feds ordered to be broken up in 2000 into two companies much like ATT 30 years prior, ahh, but that lovely president we currently have 'saved the day')

There has been a war going on for along time between these two. In the office nothing beats AMD cuz it is cost effective and works great, Intel is great for processing power at lower heat being able to handle bigger loads. As far as lawsuits go we know how long it took to get to MS and did anybody really get to them. Please!!

True, there has been intense competition between AMD and Intel, but on the legal side of things it was more of a Cold War. I suspect two things out of this, either AMD was collecting information for its legal case this whole time or this is a last ditch marketing effort to draw more awareness and attention to its plight. IBM was awarded $775 million (settled actually). Sure, its just pocket change to Bill Gates, but still, thats quite a hefty sum (better than the one dollar fine imposed against rail-road/oil conglomerates 100 years ago; true fact).

I think that is why AMD will never catch Intel; people are used to Intel and like the saying goes; "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I have always used AMD so i see no need to switch to Intel for any reason.
