i day i just opened up firefox and none of my bookmarks are here. Is there a way to restore them

If you are, try going to c:/documents and settings, browse to your log in name --> application data --> mozilla --> firefox --> profiles, and open whatever folder there is under there (something like 18fj3.default). See if there's anything like bookmarks.bak there. If there is, change the name to .html and see if it loads in FF, or you can just import it again.
