dvd drive

click on one of our sponsors! OR REMOVE ADS
my sister's dvd-rom drive broke down the other day, so i put in a dvd burner (since we had an extra laying around) to replace that one. so she now has 2 dvd burners in the computer, but when a dvd is played in either, the sound doesnt come out. i dont know if it is just because dvd burners wont read the audio or because there is something wrong in the software of the computer. does anyone have any ideas?

also, is it possible to make copies of a copy of a dvd. i use one click dvd copy and dvd43 typically if that matters.

Did you install the drivers for the burner? Did the sound work when there was just the one burner? Try reinstalling the software.

I use DVDShrink [you need NERO Burning Software installed] for burning DVD's. It will burn a backup of a backup, if that makes sense to you. But you should be able to burn one with any DVD copy software.

DVD Shrink
DVD Shrink is software to backup DVD discs. You can use this software in conjunction with DVD burning software of your choice, to make a backup copy of any DVD video disc.

DVD Shrink will also burn your backup DVD, if you have installed the latest version of Nero. If you already possess alternative burning software and prefer to stick with it, then you can still use DVD Shrink. The output from DVD Shrink can be saved as files on your hard drive, which you can then burn with software of your choice.

NERO:

Re: dvd drive

If you are using XP then it will use generic drivers for the drive. If you got a software CD with the burner then try throwing it in there and letting it install the software and see if that solves the problem.

Re: dvd drive

Did the audio work on the first one before you installed the second one? You can disable one of the drives if you wanted to.

Are you talking about plugging headphones into a jack in the front of the burner? If so then I believe there is an audio wire you have to hook up to the back of the drive for that headphones jack to work. I never use the headphone jack so I didn't bother with it when installing my DVD burner.

Software that comes with the burner comes with it for a reason and if you don't install it you can be missing out on some cool features and possibly the audio as well.
I am no expert or anything, just trying to help you out dude:~)

Re: dvd drive

You can look up the software for it online. Just go to the manufaturers website and look for the model and then get the software. OR, let me know the make and model and I will find it and post the link to it here for you.

Re: dvd drive

I didn't find anything pertaining to that model number on the net. I think the model number should be GD and not GB, but even that didn't return anything useful. I searched a site that has over 100K drivers and it didn't give me anything. Never had that happen before.
