Re: What's in a name?
I had a cat named jitterz...and when I made the name I was 26...I loved that cat...plus it fit because I am a hypertensive lil' thing
I miss my old sn or username...I used to be Duchess of Kentucky(Duchess of KY) because I was the only one anyone had ever met who went to finishing school. Daddy wanted his little tomboy to be a lady.

Re: What's in a name?
When I was in the military, and and my commander "asked" us to do something fucked up, my buddies and I would look at each other and say "BOHICA" (bo-HEE-ca). Stands for Bend Over, Here It Comes Again. Kinda summed up my life as a whole, not literally mind you, so I incorporated it in with my name Mike.

Re: What's in a name?
VoDkA, because I was in a clan for the game Ghost Recon whose tag was VoD. My name was VoD_Beast, which came from B.O.B., which stands for Beast Of Burden.
When I wanted to just mess around without caring about how what I did reflected on my group, I created the name VoD_kA, or VoDkA.
I like the name a lot, and use it often, but its kinda funny since I don't drink. (Yeah, college students that don't drink actually do exist.)
I currently use two other names, though. One is still Beast, since my group from GR turned into a group for BF1942/DC, and it would be silly to change the name and cause confusion.
The other is CheezeWhiz, which is a name I created to "throw away" while playing on battle.net, and then actually became quite attached to.

Re: What's in a name?
Well.. on AOL I did have the oober cool name of Snotrooper.. little did I know that at the time.. it looks a lot like Snot rooper... and then one of my family members gave up her password and the AOL account was taken over and we lost our account.. I grabbed one of my BattleTech books and found a planet called Kentares.. I said it a few times.. ok that is cool.. and boom Kentares was born.. I think I have now had this name for around 6 years.

Re: What's in a name?
hmm...maybe not QUITE as obvious as you might think.
In about '97 I started posting my old Grateful Dead recordings in the usenet binary group alt.binaries.gdead as I converted the tapes to CD.
Since the process involved 'ripping' the audio from analog tape to a .wav file, and then recording to CD - AND because I'm a stoner, AND because bongs are a GD kind of thing - I came up with BongRipper as my posting nick. I've used it ever since, wherever I wander.
Of course, my kids have only gotten the "audio ripping" portion of the story when they've bothered to ask about my online nick!
