Getting over a girl
Alright, I have a really REALLY messed up situation with this girl, the details of which would take a novel to explain. Basically, we went out for 10 months, broke up, didn't talk for half a year, then have started getting back together since Thanksgiving. However because of her general indecisiveness and the fact that we're a $250 minimum plane trip away because of college, she has said she just wants to be friends. Basically, I am still in love with this girl, and she has said we would prob be together if I hadn't left the state to go to a different school, while she stayed in state. So I'm still absolutely in love with her, despite a ton of shit I've gone through, and sex becoming involved recently (I'm not the kind of guy who tries to hook up with girls).
I know the best thing for me is to just forget about her, but i can't. If i found a new gf, i know it wouldn't be this way, but that hasn't happened. What advice to people have for dealing with getting over someone?

Re: Getting over a girl
In my opinion the best thing to do in this situation is to talk to her as little as possible for the next few weeks and concentrate on spending time with your friends. You don't need a girlfriend so just stop trying to find someone and start enjoying being single. Stop thinking about what you want to do and think about what is right for not only you but her as well.

Thanks, some of that is stuff i haven't thought about yet. I don't go home from school for another month, so it makes that a little easier.

Don't act all pussy whipped. You limit your life if you dwell on the past. Move forward.

Re: Getting over a girl
Best thing I could tell you is either go to her, or find someone else. I was in a similar situation and I still regret not dropping everything and going to be with her.

I can't do that at this stage of my life... I'm going to a great school, in your state btw, and giving that up for something i know could easily go wrong would be a bad move. Oh yeah, and my feelings for her are definitely less strong than they used to be... so it's not that big of an issue anymore. I've been lookin other places for the other fish in the sea for a while.

Dude...I know where's you're coming from...
Best thing really is to not talk to her. The more you think about her, the more depressed you'll get. It'll really fuck up your studies...trust me.
Go hang out with your friends. Time is the best medicine.

Re: Getting over a girl
The only thing that can heal something like this is time. Everything else is just cosmetic. I would suggest keeping busy with hobbies, books, internet ... what ever helps keep your mind occupied and off her.
I would not recommend falling back on another relationship to get over this one. It's certainly not fair to the other person and it only clouds your judgement and feelings.
Best of luck.

Re: Getting over a girl
For some reason some newJack brought this thread back after nobody even me was posting on it... things are way different than they used to be. I wouldn't even think about changing schools to be with her now. I'm doing stuff with both her and my friends this summer, and it's all working fine. We're in a kind of friends w/ benefits mode, not even sexual, and it's ok, nothing serious.

Re: Getting over a girl
Nothing helps you forget a pretty face, like another pretty face. Put anything that reminds you of her away. Find another pretty nice girl, and as sad as it may sound, replace the old one.

Re: Getting over a girl
Ok! I'm not struggling to get over her now... she's still a good friend, so i'm not gonna cut all ties from her. We're just doin the friends w/ benefits thing because it's nice to have somethin like that no matter what. If another girl comes along, I'm going for it.
