Advise me please.
So here is the scenario....I go to the neighborhood store for cigarettes and I run into an extremely long time ago ex. I freaked out. This man used to do some pretty heinous shit to me. I dropped my keys, broke out into a cold sweat and actually ran to my car. Now I can understand and appreciate fear...but geez...it is 13 years later and I behave like that....should I have slapped him....said hi....and since he is back in the neighborhood now I have the joy of seeing him more often. Advice on how I should react to this guy if I run into him again?

I'd do the same reaction. Watching you react like that the first time would be funny as hell.. and if you did it again, it would still be just as funny.
If you really miss talkin to the guy, then be reasonable and say hi, and see whats going on. If your not up to that.. then just do something to draw attention.

Re: Advise me please.
well, a lot depends on what your mean by "pretty heinous shit", but sounds like you shouldn't give him the time of day and should make every effort to avoid him... for you to have that reaction, it must have been some bad stuff... if it came to a conversation, I'd just say something like "I really don't feel comfortable talking to you and don't want to get into the past, see ya"
good luck

Make it a point to take a few extra visits to the gun club this week. Get some extra practice in for any future endeavors.

Re: Advise me please.
As far as the heinous shit goes...well just think of every mean, degrading, hurtful, and painful thing you can do to a girl when you have swilled about 35 beers and know that you have a little naive 15 year old gf. Thanks for the suggestions...I don't want a gun I might actually shoot him....and the statement of being comfortable works...to hijacker....I don't think you quite understood what I meant.

Re: Advise me please.
I would say to act is if you don't even recognize him whenever you cross paths with hi in public. If he ever tries to approach you, even for friendly conversation, you should make it clear you're not interested and that he should back off.
Be sure your boyfriend knows all the details of this, and if the fear is great enough, you could talk to the police, and if the problem continues, a restraining order is an option.
Louisville is a fairly large city, does he live right in your neighborhood?
If you want to be devious, there are lots of things we could come up with.

Re: Advise me please.
those are really great ideas rob....he doesn't stalk me anymore and it was just a chance encounter....I hope....ratt knows all about him....he lives the next neighborhood over....about a mile.....the worse thing was he knew how I was affected and smiled about it. besides...it was 13 years ago....maybe he has a new punching bag now

i'm kinda sure that you can't get a restraining order until he has either touched you...there was a guy when i was in high school that stalked my g/f at the time...one night he came to her house while her parents weren't home and started banging the door down and calling her like 35 times...he broke the glass in the door and also kicked in my car doors...little did he know the girl and i had gone with her parents to dinner but my car was still sitting outside
his grudge was against me cuz i was dating the girl he wanted...he took it out on both my car and her house causing a total of $2300 damage...we called the police and they told us of the charges we could file...the police contacted the kid's parents and he was forced to pay for all damages...we convicted him on two counts of something (i dont remember what)...
my point is...even in this situation...the police would not allow my g/f to get a restraining order because he never physically touched her

Re: Advise me please.
Personally...I'm all for ..."never let them see they get to you". Walk by...smile, say hello...and that be it. IF you must "freak out" ...do so after you're out of sight. NEVER let them see you have a reaction to them. They love that mess...it only gives them satisfaction to know they can still get to you. Let him know you've grown beyond some naive girl...and into a woman who would never deal with an abusive type of man. *smiles*

Re: Advise me please.
I've been at the offgaurd situation...and it's hard to handle. Sometimes you want to kick your self for being so silly...but we're girls...we're allowed to act silly sometimes...BUT...when they find out they no longer have any kind of effect on us... they are totally different creatures. Hope it works out for you *smiles*
