Judging by your reaction to seeing him, I would guess that "heinous shit" includes abuse of some kind. Whether it's sexual, physical, verbal or whatever.

If that's the case and you haven't already, I would suggest getting some kind of counseling. Whether its a therapist, support group, etc.

I don't mean this as "There's something wrong with you. Go see a shink." I mean that whatever happened seems to have been pretty traumatic and you owe it to yourself to do what it takes to overcome whatever psychological damage this asshole did to you.
