Church is a place where people, especially in this town, go to criticize one another, and to feel less guilty about their "closet sins" they commit the other 6 days of the week.

So fuck em. Who needs organized religion anyway?

i just have reservations about an organization that had to put screens up in the confessionals to keep the priests from taking bribes to forgive sins - and a tithe of 2% sounds a lot like 'protection' money

i think all religions are the same. they may have different opinions or something. but they r the same. talk about god and this and that. in the end everything they say or do is exactly the same to what the other religion does. no change in anything. whats the point in even haveing different names for the same thing???

I tend to agree. The basic tennents of the worlds religions are pretty close, but the way that churches interpret them can be radically different... even within the same religion. Basically if you treat others as you wish to be treated you're good to go in most.

Well, if you want to get down to it, most religions today started with the Sumerians in Ancient Mesopotamia about 7,000 years ago. The fact that they branched from the same single religion, into many smaller sects only causes confusion and hatred toward others of the different sects. Catholosism has been talked a lot about, but what a lot of people fail to remember is that the Catholic church was set up by Christians to appeal to pagans, therefore adding the saints and basically demi-gods. The Bible does not say you have to go to Church, which churches want you to believe. The Bible says you have to have a place of worship and fellowship with others. As far as I'm concerned, I don't want to be part of what is inevitabley the largest group of hypocrites and bigots in the world. When you get masses of ignorance together, the only thing that can be accomplished is more ignorance. People watch a man on a pulpit telling them his ideas on religion, and because he is on the pulpit, he HAS to be right. Shepard and sheep. Anything against the grain is unheard of, and condemned. I say we go back to the original religion, back to Nibiru!
