Hey (embarrassed blush), If you only got one CPU and two OS's....

Besides, multiple images is the wave of the future. (An intel just can't handle more than one at a time.) As for the gui, some poor schmuck worked really hard to make it look nice, probably for less than he should have been paid. I'll use it if it works. (Besides, all it is is a fancy command prompt.)

i just dont see how people use linux on a daily bases

they try so hard to get it to act like windows if you want windows use windows.

i for one have a small 166 box that is always on and i log into it maybe 3 times a week

its a server/router and it does its job
linux will never be a mainstream desktop platform!

and as far as the gui it is silly, u use linux for better memory managment to get rid of the windows overhead and then people go out and load a gui on it. just plain dumb in my mind

Ummmm, I hate to burst your bubble but IBM is using Linux on it's management consoles now. Also, their high end servers and mainframes support it.

I will agree that Linux is a bit of overkill on a home desktop, but it's never presented me with the "Blue Screen of Death". Both KDE and Gnome give an almost windows feel to the gui now to.

i use linux on a daily basis. i occasionaly even have linux running under winblows in emulation. i sill use winblows as my UI because i do all my multimedia autoring with/in it. but the desktop for Linux gorws by leaps and bounds each passing year. it is already a very capaiable desktop... and read desktop, not multimedia platform, but its getting there. many corperations are looking to it as a desktop to get away from the MS liscencing, and for lower IT costs. many countriess are saying straight up f-microsoft, OSS only for us. that means that weather you want to live under a rock or not, its going to be going places, fast.
