Re: RAM question
you can mix and match, for the most part. I like Kingston myself and you probably on need another 256 anyways, at least in that system.

Re: RAM question
buy a new cpu bro...
http://www.partspc.com/store/product113.html
that's a p 4 2.4ghz, motherboard, AND 256mb RAM for $182.00
take the 256 you already got and drop it into your new motherboard, and you've got a computer that is over twice as fast as your current setup

Re: RAM question
depends if its DDR or sd, they will not run together if they are diffrent, also they have to be the same sided. im talking about the memory chips. single sided and dual sided. you will run into dual sided 85 percent of the time. but make sure you get dual. and you should get the same FSB as your processor. PC 2700 or 3200 you should really check with your manufacture with beying new ram with an older board, also between tose times they had diffrent size ram sticks like 184 and others, my advice is, BE CAREFUL!

Re: RAM question
Good advice Corrosion0990, definitely need to check the documentation to see the type and bus speed of the RAM as well as the max supported by the mainboard. Also the max supported per bank. Some systems might allow 1 gig of ram but only let you put 512 per bank.

Re: RAM question
You need to find your motherboard model and go to a site like Crucial and use their memory selector to see what ram it takes and how much the board can handle, it is very accurate and then you can buy from them or get some cheap kingston valueram or something else from a store.
