AMDŽ Sempron 3000+ Processor yay or nay?
Hey people, im looking to buy a laptop as my current computerhas 800Mhz and 128mb RAM, piece of shit in other words!
Ideally I'm looking for one with a Pentium 4 processor, but ive found cheaper versions with an AMD Sempron 3000+ Processor. Is there much difference between the two and which would be better for gaming? Cheerz guys. :happycow:

I use AMD for gaming and the sempron is a good processor. It replaced the athlon xp processor. I am not a big fan of Intel never had any luck with it.

The sempron is essentially the Celeron of AMD, that said it is still a solid proccessor. But if you're looking for good gaming performance i'd look at either AMD's 64 line or Pentium 4m. There are many sites all over the internet dedicated to benchmarking and comparing these proccessors and setups. Just google it if you want more information.

I have a AMD 64 3000+ with 512 MB RAM, and a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700LE
I don't really do much gaming, just a little bit here and there and it does just fine. THe most recent game I've run is SWAT 4... and thats a hefty load.

I wouldn't suggest you get a laptop for gaming... if you want a gaming rig, get a desktop with an AMD 64 chip.

Re: AMDŽ Sempron 3000+ Processor yay or nay?
I have almost the same set up:
AMD 3000+ sempron (64), 512 RAM, and a Radeon 9600 - I can run HL2 very nicely, the only thing that keeps me back is the RAM imho.
And the CPU.
And the GFX card.
....

Re: AMDŽ Sempron 3000+ Processor yay or nay?
i have an athlon 3200, 2.226 GHZ,1 gig ram 400, ati 9600xt, 120 gig 80 gig 40 gig HDD 7200 RPM. i thinck your should get an athlon 64 939 pin and start off smaller processor if you dont have the money, i say 939 because they can upgrade to the FX55 or FX53 and the 754 pins cant. pretty soon im building a 64 4000 with ati X800. hope it runs good whatever you decide to get.
