A-Rod.....please!

click on one of our sponsors! OR REMOVE ADS
I just watched an interview with Alex Rodriguez on ESPN. The interviewer asled him if he could instill one trait that he has into his daughter what would it be.

The answer...his work ethic. "My blue collar attitude".

WHAT!!! This moron left Seattle because he wanted the 225 million dollar contract. No loyalty, no nothing. Just a fat wallet.

This guy is as phoney as Pam Anderson's tits. I hate him and always will hate him.

Please Pay-Rod....enough.

Sorry about the short rant.

Ease up! It's not like he's Ken Griffey, Jr.. He's actually put effort into being one of the best...and maybe the best. Don't dis him because someone paid him. Dis him if he shows up to spring camp out of shape.

Sumbitch.....

Are you serious Wayne?? Griffey never went to camp out of shape! The guy got injured. When you get injured you are prone to get reinjured. Ask Grant Hill. A-rod is still young...it could happen to him.

I'm not saying he's not great....he is. I'm saying, don't bullshit a bullshitter. Blue collar attitude??? No...not by a long shot. He's on his third team already. No loyalty. Money and Rings is what he cares about....not fans and teammates.

Blue collar....no athlete can talk about blue collar. Especially the guy with the biggest contract in Baseball.

Ask Edgar Martinez about loyalty, ask Tony Gwynn about teammates, ask Cal Ripken about commitment. Fuck A-rod. On the field, the guy is gold. But he can eat a fat one off the field.

HE LEFT SEATTLE FOR $$. HE LFET TEXAS BECAUSE THEY SUCKED. I have no respect for him, because he has no respect for anyone but himself.

You damn right I was at SafeCo field throwing monopoly money at that POS. He turn his back on thousands of fans. Maybe he needs to go talk to Derek Jeter about team loyalty......at least that guy has the right idea.

Johnny Damon said it best...."I will never wear pinstripes, no matter the money involved."

For him to say he's "blue collar" is a slap in the face to everyone that puts in 40 a week.

Re: A-Rod.....please!

Kornut hit the nail right on the head. A-Job knows nothing about loyalty and being a GOOD team mate. Honestly i think a person like A-Rod can only hurt a team, he asks for too much money, killing the payroll for any team, other than the yankees of course. But even now, hes killing the chemistry that used to exists with the yankees. I Remember a over a year ago when the Sox almost trade for him, i was scared to death, hes a great player but hes is no where near worth what hes is paid (no person is).

Take a look at the teams that hes left.... Seattle, the year after he leaves, wins 110+ games and goes to the ALCS, Texas, may not have had an awsome season last year but still won, now leading the AL west...

A-Rod is a drain on everyteam he plays for......

As much as i hate to say it, he needs to learn something for Derek Jeter, hes a great player, and knows how to stick by your team no matter what.

Re: A-Rod.....please!

When he said "blue collar", he was refering to his work ethic. None of his peers would ever question his worth ethnic. When I refered to Griffey, I was pointing out he may play hard and love the game as much as anyone, but he doesn't go the extra mile like an A-Rod or a Bonds or a Clemens. Hence, the bad hamstring--an injury which could have been prevented by going the extra mile in his conditioning.

As for as laying blame for his teams being disappointments--BULLSHIT! Baseball and football aren't Basketball, were you can add a Bird, a Magic, or an MJ and be an instant contender. Baseball like football is an ensemble sport. The Vikings and Cowboys found that out with Herschel Walker. If A-Rod's doesn't produce and his teammates are on all cylinders, they still win. If A-Rod has a MVP season and his teammates don't produce, they don't win--period! You may make the argument he wasn't good for Texas, but they offered him the money. You can't make the argument he was a drain in Seatle because they never paid him a blockbuster salary. You can't make that argument with NY because of all the talent they have on that team.

We'll see how loyal Jeter is in 5 years. Like Pedro, a time will come when the "powers that be" have to make a decision.....trade him or pay him over his value. Loyalty is a two way street. Seatle has half-heartedly shown it to Griffey, A-Rod, The Big Unit, and Lou Pinnella. *It's TRUE, It's TRUE* Damon may say he will never play in pin-stripes, but a day will come when he can make a choice....keep playing somewhere or retire when he knows he's still got it.

Oh, yeah! Trog, what's this crap about A-Rod not being a good teammate and killing the chemistry of the Yanks. What is he the "Yoko Ono of the Yankees". He doesn't pitch, he doesn't play the outfield, he doesn't play the right side of the infield, nor does he catch. If he was such a problem, Steinbrenner would be the first to say so. If it was the case in Texas, Buck Showalter would have been sreaming it from the rooftops.

Wrong....Griff left because his entire family lived in Cinn. His wife, kids, and parents. It had nothing to do with Seattle not wanting him.

A-rod left for money...nobody can argue that. I'm sorry but Seattle just doesn't have 225 Mill to spend on a player.

Same with Unit...he wasn't pushed out of Seattle, he left for his own reasons.

Seattle has been loyal to all their players. Edgar spent 18 season's there through good and bad. We never turned or back on him. Boone has struggled for the past three years, yet he starts every game.

I don't have to defend Seattle's transactions....I stated the fact that A-Rod cares more about money, then he does about loyalty. Alot of players do and it's a shame.

How the hell do you know that he doesn't go the extra mile?? Because he's had a injury come back to haunt him??

You say Bonds....how's he playing this year?

Tell Bo he should have went the extra mile mile so he could come back and play.

You don't know the work Griff has put in to getting back on track. Last I checked Junior is playing great this year.

Re: A-Rod.....please!

Wow, I have to agree with everything Kornut has said. Blue Collar work ethic? Sure, I guess you can call it what ever you want when you make $225 Million. Baseball has not been Blue collar for some time. Blue collar refer's to the men and women that hump ass for shit. Baseball is still a game, and don't start in on the number of hours a player may put in. They get 3 month's off a year.

A-Rod Left for mo Money!!! I am sure it is hard to say no to the Yanks and $$$$. Every player dreams of winning the WS!!!

But Blue Collar? No. Not even close.

Re: A-Rod.....please!

I dont think that it would be good to compair Pedro to Jeter... Pedro is a pre-madona, who thinks hes better than everyone, and deserves to be treated like hes the king of the world. Jeter is not.

Also Barry Bonds putting in the extra mile... if going the extra mile is shooting up with steroids.

Its not like this is something that i have made up about A-Rod, every sports caster knows about A-Rod and most players say the same thing too. Hes a selfish player and only cares about himself.

Re: A-Rod.....please!

Let me start by saying I am not an A-rod fan. I think he is overpaid and not living up to his contract. However, you can't say he does not have a good work ethic. The guy moved posiitons, from short to the next hardest position to play, and never said a word, all he did was work on his D and try to become a great 3rd baseman (he may not be there, but he is trying). Work ethic implies he works his ass off, which he does. Again, I think he has an inflated contract, but he works. Jr., who I like, has a reputation for not spending time in the gym, not spending the extra time, and relying on his natural talent (which is tremendous, probably the most God-given talent in baseball). His lack of regular training increased his chances for injury...

I am one of the biggest Griffey fans of all time and I would really like to know were you have heard that he has a rep of not putting time in the gym. I've followed this guys career since he was a rookie and never have heard at anytime that he didn't put in 110 percent. If that was the case, can you explain how he has played so well this season?

Yes, A-Rod works hard, but to call it "blue collar" is absolutely absurd. I wish he could work a month in my, and every other 40 hour a week Joe Schmoe's shoes. Fuck him for comparing working out in a gym, and shagging fly balls blue collar.

Re: A-Rod.....please!

I am an avid Yankee hater who grew up in a Yankee household. Because of this, I had to find an alternative team, which led me to the Cleveland Indians. As implied by my monniker, I am a huge Indians fan. I agree that A-Rod makes to much money and I don't think he trains as hard as he implies. I will take my fav. player, Jim Thome, and his balky back, over A-Rod any day. Thome plays the game it should be played, with passion and love. Now, I was extremely disappointed when he left Cleveland for more money, which kinda pissed me off, but he has no ego, and goes out and gives 110% every time he is on that field. As far as I'm concerned, A-Rod can't even hold Thome's jock when it comes to sportsmanship, passion and love for the game. And on a side note, Thome took his contract, and is paying for college for all of his nieces and nephews, that right there shows character and maturity that A-Rod can never match.
