How did your team do in this year's draft??

My Packers did pretty decent. I was hoping to land DeMarcus Ware with our first pick, that is until Aaron Rodgers dropped to us. Our second pick killed me, Nick Collins out of Bethune-Cookman...not sure how this CB will do in the NFL.

Re: Draft Recap

Uh, sorry, I'm a die hard Packers fan, but with the exception of Rodgers, this draft was horrible. We took one LB, and he'll be 26 by the start of the season. We took one DL who's best attribute is that he has long arms. Too bad he's undersized for DT and too slow for DE. We picked 2 WR's, which was apparently a need spot for us, what with having DRIVER, WALKER, AND FERGUSON, arguably the best trio of wideouts in the league. Also we talk a bunch of tweener DBs who are either two slow for CB or too small and weak for safety as well as one who wants to play LB at about 225. We are so screwed it's not even funny. P.S. All the O-line guys we took will be inconsequential for at least 3 years. Yeah, great draft. Not. C-, F if not for Rodgers.

Oh, guys we needed and passed up include the Cody's, Matt Roth, Darryl Blackstock, and many other people WHO WOULD HAVE FILLED OUR NEEDS INSTEAD OF BEING COMPLETELY STUPID PICKS!!!

When guy like me, from Green Bay, a football addict, and hardcore fan for all 22 years of my life, is willing to concede the NFC North to Minnesota, someone fucked up. I now hate Ted Thompson more than the idiots who ran Ed Donatell out of town.

Re: Draft Recap

I understand that we had a bad draft....I was just being as optimistic as I could be. You can correct me if i am wrong, but I believe that both Cody's were gone by the time our second pick came around. As for Roth, I wasn't really impressed with him, but as you said we need defensive help. The one pick that completely threw me off was our third pick, that wideout from Texas A&M....And i honestly don't think that the Michael Hawkins pick was bad out of OU....As the draft was going on, I was watching for defensive players that we could pick, and it seemed by the time our third pick came around there were none that were left to help out.....imo, we didn't do as bad as you are making it out to be, cosidering the circumstances of everyone above us taking defenders. Please also note that I am not jumping for joy over our picks, because as I stated in my above post, I was really looking forward to picking DeMarcus Ware....The biggest mistake I think we made was picking Nick Collins over Channing Crowder. He was still on the board until the 3rd round.

Re: Draft Recap

My 2 year old nephew coulda picked better than the Seahawks.... I understand that they couldn't find anyone to trade up with. But come one... Spencer in the 1st rd. a guy they coulda picked up in the late 2nd. And the lb from usc who was graded as a 4 th round pick that they traded up for in the second round???? Hmmm how about the fact that the biggest need for the seahawks was at lb and D-line and they did not pick a single d-linemen. Fin' retarded

Re: Draft Recap

Dan Cody was still available for our second pick. The Ravens got him two picks later. Crowder was available through both of our 2nd round picks. But the absolute worst travesty was not picking Darryl Blackstock. Instead we traded our 3rd round pick so we could pick up more players we didn't need in the late rounds. The fact that d-line and linebackers seemed to be afterthoughts shows me that someone making decisions doesn't know a damn thing about our team.

Re: Draft Recap

Well, being a Raiders fan i think the team did pretty well in the draft.

Traded up to 23 to get CB Fabian Washington and then early in the second round took CB Stanford Routt.

2 great looking CB prospect to replce the departed Buchanon and hopefully soon, Charles Woodson.

Can't wait for the season to start!

Okay, for some reason I thought both Cody's were gone, my bad on that one. While I agree with what your saying, I believe re-signing Kampman had a lot to do with us not looking so hard for a d-lineman....I again do not agree that Kampman and KGB are enough, but we do still have Grady Jackson who is an excellent run-stopper. IMO our biggest holes to fill were in the LB and Secondary positions. Blackstock would have been a great fit for us, and would have immediately helped us out as well....I almost feel dumb for not even thinking about him ......on a lighter note, today my buddy and I purchased our tickets to see the Pack play the Bengals. My first Packers game....I'm very excited, a little less than $150 bucks a ticket sitting 13 rows up from the corner of the endzone....Oct. 30th, I can't wait!!!!

Re: Draft Recap

My Raiders did ok I guess. 2 corners in the 1st two rounds so at least the got what they need. I just don't know if they are gonna pan out how we want. We've drafted a CB in the 1st round 3 out of 4 years and none of them have really stepped up to the level we wanted. Hopefully it works out.
Since I live in AZ I root for the Cards as well. They made some smart decisions in every round. The best CB in my opinion Antre Rolle they got. Then they got J.J. Arrington in the second. Something tells me they will be a team that will surprise some people.

Re: Draft Recap

Congrats on going to your first game. Hope you have a great time. But, I have to point out that Grady Jackson blows. And Kampman only re-upped for one year. The idea was to find a replacement before he leaves. Now that's not gonna happen. Our only hope is that Donnell Washington can somehoe live up the potential they thought he had and that a real DE will mysteriously appear in training camp.

On a speculative note, we appeared very interested in return men. How cool would it be if picked up Jim Leonhard? Not to mention he's more of a real safety than any of the guys we took, despite his size. Plus he's all effort and even if he had to be a situational DB, he'd be an undrafted free agent who could make an immediate impact

Re: Draft Recap

Well, despite what all the critics say, I think my Lions did well in this years draft. We got a potential playmaker in Mike Williams in the first round, and considering the uncertain health of C-Rog, I think it's a good pick. Shaun Cody in the second was a steal, and Stanley Wilson (CB, Stanford), has some skills. The rest of our picks were mostly for depth, but one guy I love is Dan Orlovsky, QB from UConn. He's got a lot of talent, and I think if the "Joey Situation" doesn't pan out as expected this season, he could be a big time player in the future for us.

And don't underestimate Matt Roth. He IS the real deal. Trust me.

Re: Draft Recap

I hate to say it, but I think the Lions did fairly well. I like the Mike Williams pick, now Harrington has to do something with 3 playmakers like that. And even if he doesn't, they still have Garcia to back him up. Everyone seems to be down on Garcia, but I see him as more of a threat than Harrington.

The Pack has them in week 1 in Mo-town and to be honest, with our lack of talent in the secondary I'm a little nervous about harrington torching us, but our offense will hopefully still out score you guys

Re: Draft Recap

Well, knowing our luck, half our secondary will be out with injuries, and C-Rog will break his collarbone (again) in the first quarter.

Re: Draft Recap

I, too, am a Packers fan and I think the draft was a wash if not for Rogers. It should be interesting to see how he fits in the offense, being that it's a lot like what he had at Cal. I feel sorry for the guy being the first after Favre, but hopefully he's our Steve Young.
I also think it was a shame that they didn't pick Crowder, especially with how dissappointing Barnett has been recently.
