Re: Store owner shoots robber...
I thought this looked pretty fake as well. The thing that got me was the muzzle flash. Security cameras like that usually have low framerates to be able to store a lot of time in as little media space (tape or hardrive) as possible. The muzzle flash showed up every time he shot without fail and,to me at least, looked a little large and bright given the quality of the tape. I know the quality isnt great but shouldnt you be able to see at least SOME smoke from the guns? Any thoughts on this Schutzenkonig?
It also looks kind of staged. The way the robber falls down, as well as the convenient fact that you cant see the robber get shot once he is down. But at the same time, I dont claim to have seen a lot of people shot either so I could be wrong.
The last thing that seems suspicious, is the numbers on the screen. They are in the middle of the screen but slightly offset just enough to obscure the only visible hit by a bullet. On every security camera tape ive ever seen, the numbers are located on the edge of the screen so you CAN see what is going on in the tape.

Re: Store owner shoots robber...
I honestly don't think this is a fake. However, Im surprised by the lack of blood on the first shot. As to the muzzle flash, I think the low framerate WILL make it look fake, just by its nature, it will probably only pick up one frame of the flash, and that will make it look kind of fake.
I think the store owner is in the right here, Im not one for the sanctity of life when it comes to criminals.. he shouldn't have dragged the body around though

Re: Store owner shoots robber...
i just have to say this must be a fake, the muzzle flash happens in all the shots except the first one he actuall hits him? kinda improbable. but there is no blue what so ever on his WHITE shirt as he drags him away, shot that close will spatter some blood at least.

Re: Store owner shoots robber...
I couldn't get it to print screen for some reason, but if you pause while he's dragging the body away, when it's in the bottom left, it looks like a through-and-through bullet hole in the back of the jacket. Looks real to me.

Re: Store owner shoots robber...
Couple of points. Hollywood has given us great expectations of what it looks like when a bullet enters a body. Most of the time you don't see much of anything on the side where the bullet enters the body, at least not for the first few moments. My resolution is not great, but I think the store owner had a .380 or maybe a 9mm, not cannons. Not saying it's not fake, but don't expect a red splash.
I agree with Juan that anyone other than a sociopath is likely to get the "oh shit" vibe going after something like that. I probably wouldn't want people looking into the place that puts bread on my family's table and seeing a dead body either. That being said, the police will be asking why he moved the body.
I'd have shot till he was dead too. One, I don't know he can't still hurt me. Two, I don't want his injured ass sueing me in an American court system for emotional distress, loss of income, damages, ad nauseum. However, I wouldn't have come around the counter and gotten closer to him to do it. I would have leaned over the counter if I had to but I would have just stood there and emptied the clip into him rapid fire, looks more like heat of the moment which is more defendable in court.
Have I given this some thought before? Damn skippy.

That perp got what he deserved. As for the victim, I empathize with him. I used to work in a place where myself and some of my coworkers carried guns even though it was against company policy.

Re: Store owner shoots robber...
Could be fake, as the quality is a lot better than other security cam feeds I have seen. Also, they kinda looked like they were taking turns shooting at each other....If it was real, I have the same question someone else did; where is he dragging him off to? Is he getting ready for the gimp or what?

Re: Store owner shoots robber...
Before watching it and reading your posts, I was going to make a commeent about how the guy was not sure of what he was doing, blah blah blah.
But now after watching this, I agree it is fake. Most people in that situation would panic and shout several shots, not act like it was the wild west.
This reminds me of a clip I saw several years ago, where a man was crossing the street, only to get hit by a car, flipped up, and then hit by a car going in the other direction. I was slightly disturbed by it. But then I saw it again in "Dreamcatcher".
I think this is staged.

Re: Store owner shoots robber...
I'd cap him. From behind the counter. Without the ducking and hiding crap. Too many of these kinds of incidents....we need to send a message that this is not an acceptable way to make money.....too many people (thugs, self-styled gangsta's, etc) have gotten the message the corporations have been sending; it's insured, just take it from us, we won't resist. I call BS.

Re: Store owner shoots robber...
Screw the hide crap, I'd have shot him through the clothing rack! Exposed as fake, it's all good. But it leaves to the imagination, what would YOU do in that situation?
To the "he needs to learn how to shoot a pistol better" comment. Honest question, have you ever fired a pistol one-handed? His rendition of "kick" was actually pretty good for the round not being real, IMO.
