The Amityville Horror
Wow...that movie definetely scared the shit out of me...literally, I think I sharted once or twice. The movie has the scare factor but doesn't really make you fearful for too long after the movie. I'd probably see it again if I had the chance...
My rating... 8.327 out of 10.3
That's right 10.3

Re: The Amityville Horror
IMHO, the first one was more scary than this new one, however this new one still freaked me out pretty good...its worth going to see.

Re: The Amityville Horror
I loved it. I thought they did a great job. Alot better than the other crap movies they try and put off as "Horror".

Re: The Amityville Horror
the movie was on the bad side of mediocre. The acting was actually okay, it suprised me. But this movie offered nothing new to the genre. Why remake what was terrible in the first place? There were a few scares, but I, and I'm sure others, could see every one of them coming. There was no, "what's going to happen?" going on here, no tricks or suprises, except the usual plot thickening of horror movies- the answer to what's going on, and why. I want something to chill me to the bone, a movie that will stay with me. The attempt to tag on, "Based on A True Story" pissed me off, seeing as it didn't work the first time around with the original,(the story was proved to be a product of imagination, although some events happened) I saw the name Michael Bay and I almost dropped going to see this altogether, expected tacky lines to be thrown out by the actors before they begin shooting, and explosions along with rock music. All in all I think this movie failed because it refused to differenciate itself from all the others like it. But, for those easily scared an unexpecting, I'm sure it's a ball.

Compared to the many horror movies Hollywood has thrown at us in the past ten years I still feel this was by far better. I've set my expectations down so far along the lines of a movie actually scarying me, that this movie although not really scary, still stood as one of the betters of the decade.

Re: The Amityville Horror
I agree with korn here. Horror movies have literally been very very shit lately - to what standards do they exactly base these conceptions of 'horror' on I have no clue. Im generally one of the fools at the back laughing my arse off during a horror as quite simply they are a pathetic attempt.
So far one of the better horror movies I've seen was freddy v Jason. And its not because it was scary - it wasnt. I just cant get over the scene of jason walking thru the corn field on fire and then throws his blade and impales the dude.. *grins* that was the best part of the movie I'm going to go see Amityville Horror next weekend and hopefully it wont prove to be a disappointment

Uhh, it really is based on a true story.
After I saw the original some years ago, I was skeptical about that. Until I did some reading on it. The story goes like this.
Family A is killed in the house by son. Family B moves in, and is allmost killed in the same fashion by father. The simmalarities in the father's actions and the son from the first family lead everyone to belive that it was the house. Thats hard to prove, but thats still the story you get from anyone who was around at the time of the events.
And, true story or complete bullshit, it was a good movie.

Re: The Amityville Horror
I haven't seen it, but I decided I should since I've heard the book on which the true story is from is scarier than shit.
