AFI and The Atari's
Anyone else out there detest this watered down bilge. Punk rock my ass. AFI is a shadow of what they used to be, and even then they weren't that great. I guess that is better then the Atari's who have always been crap.

Re: AFI and The Atari's
Have you listened to Sing the Sorrow?! It may be less raw, but thats a good thing. Good writing, stronger vocals, more adventurous songs. A shadow?! I suppose next you'll be saying Blink 182 and Avril Lavigne are the greatest punk acts ever. You sick puppy.

Re: AFI and The Atari's
I just wanna laugh. And cry. And puke. These are heavily produced, heavily promoted bands that are appealing for MTV airplay and awards. THAT IS NOT PUNK ROCK!

Re: AFI and The Atari's
Hang on now. I said AFI was good, not the Ataris. The Atari's are crap. But AFI is an excellent band who have been damn good for a long time. Because their production has gotten better does not mean they've become something else. PUNK does not mean shitty production. Have you ever listened to Bad Religion? Guess what? GOOD PRODUCTION. Try to tell me Bad Religion isn't punk. Let's see, who else....The Clash, good production for the time, wanna tell me they weren't punk? I'm not saying a band has to have high production quality to be a good punk band, I know damn well thats not true, being a big fan of the occasionial basement punk show. But having good production can make a band better, and in AFI's case it made their best album yet.

Re: AFI and The Atari's
in the end music is music...it doesn't matter what genre they call it, if you like it that's great and if you don't then that's your choice. im personally not a big fan of either but who exactly gets to define what is or isn't punk, and why does it even matter?

Re: AFI and The Atari's
meh, i've been a fan of both these bands long before the big labels and mtv picked them up. i'm not such a fan of the way they're been promoted now, but just because they're marketed at mtv'ers doesn't mean that they suck (although the ataris latest really isn't upto their previous work). i saw the ataris live last march, and it was one of the best shows i've ever been to.
