Hey there. Just wanted to vent a little. As you all know, koRnut and I have just moved. I have been at my job for almost a year now and am finding that I am not enjoying it- pretty much at all. I am so used to dealing with the public and having a job that is not so repetitive like this one is. I miss the day time. Oh- I work from 7pm to 7:30am. I go to the mall, banks (where I used to work primarily) and see the people there and wish I was back doing that type of work.

I know that I am blessed to have this opportunity, but am failing to see a real bright future. I have started to explore my options so that I may stay with this company, afterall it is a good place to work pay, benefits and all. I have my associates in digital systems technology, and am discovering that I am pretty limited with the type of work available for this type of degree. I have discovered that I am needing a BS or MBA to go pretty much anywhere else (finance dept.,marketing, sales, etc.) This sucks! I have alot of experience and nothing to use it for- it seems.

I have talked to koRnut about it alot. I do not mean to sound like I am complaining, cuz I know I have a good job. I just happen to not like it that much. I am lost and confused. I am trying to do my best and stick with it, but it gets hard at times to keep motivated. He seems convinced that it is cuz I just miss home. I am not denying this, but wish things were easier. I am not knowing what to do at this point.

Anyhow, sorry for rambling. Just had to vent...

It'll work out, they always do. Just remember the only things in life you truely regret or the chances you don't take.

Re: Stuck...

I would just do this job for now and save some money. In the future if you want to pursue one of the jobs you can't get now, go back and get your degree. Or maybe u could go to school and work simultaneously, 3-6 credit semesters wouldn't be too much, some employers will even pay for your education. If you moved back home I bet you'd want to come back in a day

Re: Stuck...

Let me tell you a little story about a friend of mine.... Let's call him Mike. Mike went to college in the late 90s. He started out as a music major and quickly found that it wouldn't make him any money, so he started to switch over to another major... something to the effect of running a recording studio. Nearly two years into his college career, his mother got sick and the financial assistance dried up and he was forced to move back home.

For another two years he lived with his brother, father, mother, and mother's "friends". He worked for a music store making no more than $7.50 an hour.... not much, even for a no education sales job... One day he was talking things out with a family member and they suggested he try for a position with an insurance company doing something menial. He had no college degree.... He did that and got a job paying the same as his sales position. Most of his job consisted of pushing papers around and doing a little leg work in the office. The kind of thing a trained monkey can do.

It's two years later, he's making 11.00+ an hour, paying for an apartment, car, school, and he has a social life. He's happier than he's been in a really long time.

What are you supposed to learn from this story? Well, basically you just need to keep your mind open to new possibilities, and don't be affraid to try something new. Even if the new job doesn't seem like something you want to do, it just might be the one thing that is missing from your life that lets you do all the other things you want to do.

I hope my story helped. Good luck!
