OGM Files
I've got some video files I downloaded via torrent. Some are .AVI files, but some are .OGM files. Anyone know what they are, and how to convert them to AVI or WMV? Nero won't recognize them. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: OGM Files
I havnt encountered this format, but I found this site as a guide to playing.
http://ld-anime.faireal.net/guide/ogm-en
I found this thread on a videohelp msg board with several suggestions to converting. My favorite is the guy who wants to just rename the extension to .avi. But there looks to be some valid stuff there. Hope this helps.

Re: OGM Files
Thanks to both of you. I'm guessing the codec will work with WMP, but will it work with nero, so I don't have to convert?

Just install it and when you do, don't associate it with any file types. Leave Nero as your default player and just install the Codec for WMP. When you wanna open that file, just right click and select Open With, and use WMP.
This will let you still play the file while keeping Nero as your default player.

Re: OGM Files
Hijacker, Nero isn't a media player. It's a burning program.
And as far as Nero being able to convert it to DVD with the codec installed, all I can say it try it...but don't get your hopes up.
VirutalDubMOD is completely freeware, not even ad suppported. And then you're sure to have a format the Nero can translate to DVD with any issues.

Re: OGM Files
Have you actually used this Wolf?? I ran it once, and it seemed to work. Converted one ogm to an avi, but had a different audio stream. I tried to run it agian, and it wouldn't run. And then I started haveing problems. After reboots, explorer starts automatically. I ran spybot, and it found 1 new registry entry that lists Internet Explorer with an autostart string. And found two strings labeled Wget.trojan I don't know of anything else I've ran, or used recently. No new programs installed or anything else. So, just keep an eye out. But still, thanks for your help.

Re: OGM Files
I've never done this myself or download those files, so I'm sorry if you got a virus or any spyware that is not my fault however.
I only used Google to find the info and posted my findings, nothing more.
You might want to contact the people you got the files from and let them know of the problem...and I don't mean videohelp.com, they only link you do the source.

Re: OGM Files
I'm not upset at ya wolf, just letting you know. I didn't think you'd do that on purpose.
Fox-I've got Nero Oem Suite 3, with Nero Express 6. And it does all that, but it can't do anything with the ogm files.
