Any of our American friends feel threatned by North Korea?

It’s scary. We can’t push North Korea around like we did Iraq either. I don’t know that it is fair to say that no one else can have nuclear weapons when we sit on enough to kill the world ten times over. Certainly I’m concerned when aggressor nations (Jimi back off, I know you, and others, think we’re the aggressor in Iraq) get nuclear technology. I just think it is hypocritical to say no one else can develop them except for us and nations that have had them for years.

well North Korea does have a three-stage rocket and have been actively improving upon its range. I don't think they'll actually hit the US with a nuke, nor Japan or S. Korea, but now bush's "diplomacy" is fucking worthless against them b/c bush feels that invading a country for no serious reason is a great idea and rock-solid diplomacy. Right?

N. Korea would be foolish to send a nuke here. They don't have enough nuke power to destroy the whole US. There for sending one here would mean complete removal of their country in just a matter of hours. Not realistic now is it? They just like to be obstinant idiots, I don't know why anyone even pays attention to their piss ass country. They really don't contribute to the worlds economy or resourses!!!!!

They got nuclear weapons to prevent America from invading them like we did to Iraq. I woulnd't call that being an obstinate idiot, how else would you defend yourself from an invasion from America? As to paying attention to their piss ass country, relations were relaxed with NK during Clinton and NK and S. Korea were making unprecedent deals, allowing families to visit each other, GIs to visit graves of their buddies or search for MIAs. Bush just randomly labeled Iraq, N. Korea and I forget the other country b/c I don't apy attention to him as the "Axis of Evil" I'm willing to bet they would not have sped up their nuclear program if it wasn't for the fact they didn't feel threatened by an invasion from America; which bush intelligently did.

Considering that North Korea has SOLD nuke tech to other countries that HATE the US, and the fact the North Korea HATES Japan, as well as WANT to own South Korea, I would say they are a scary issue.
Just becuase they allowed some people to cross the DMZ is NOT a break through.

If North Korea threatens Japan, what are they to do? What are we to do? Japan is our Ally. Japan has NO offensive threat, yet they have limited Defensive threat.

You do not use Nukes to defend your Country. What, they will launch one at their coast because we are along it? NO!

We should be warry of Norht Korea and not be so happy they have a Nuke Bomb.

And if a terrorist Organization gets one and gets it into America, I do not want to hear you whining that the US government did not do enough to stop it!!!

Kim Jong-il of North Korea may be crazy but he ain't no idiot. He know the way to get his country to prosper is be a threat to the U.S.. We'll give them aid for an agreement to back down. And attacking them is out of the question because South Korea is only minutes from a barrage of artillery and besides, China wouldn't stand for it. Unlike many of us Americans, the Koreans have a good memory. MacArthur wanted to use nuclear weapons during the Korean War and actually convinced a lot of people in the Truman Administration it was a good idea. Bush's saber rattling during his "axis of evil" speech. Japan building up South Korean while North Koreans die of famine. All these things seem to have come back to bite us in the ass!

Before the invasion of Iraq, U.S. military ships tracked vessels from North Korean to ports in the Middle East. They were delivering munitions to Palestine and Iraq. Now that they have the bomb, it's a way for them the get much needed money by exporting it. It's only a matter of time.

I looks like you guys are pretty much split down the middle. To be honest I'm mighty relieved/ pleasantly surprised as it seems lessons have been learnt.
With the Koreans admitting/ shouting about their nuclear arsenal it seems they might be on their way to the negotiating table with the deck stacked a little less against them.
Lets not forget WMD was a myth to keep Iraqs neighbours at bay. Not a threat to anybody

N.Korea is using nukes like chips on the table. This is just extorsion on a much grander scale. Every civilized country knows there is nothing to be gained by using nuclear weapons. They are just simply too powerful for their own good. Having nukes gives N.Korea a stake in the game. We'll shut it all down if you _____________ (fill in your own blanks).

The US is by treaty responsible for Japan. That was the surrender agreement that went along with their disarming at the end of WW2. Which is why we maintain a strong military contingent there. Hitting Japan with a nuke is the same as dropping one on Ca. according to the treaty. While nuking Japan wont provoke a nuclear return from the US, the end result will be the same.

Personally the only thing I think we should be warry of is if we give in to the tactics being used by N.Korea. If we basically buy them off with aid/economy/technology etc. What is to stop the next country from following suit? Furthermore.. what if N.Korea agrees.. we give the agreed payout.. and then they decide.. okay. now we want more.. We'll launch if you don't ____________________.

Its a boiling pot at best, hopefully other nations (the ones currently involved in the six-nation talks) can find a diplomatic solution. Maybe even if the US withdrew from the talks, it might help. N.Korea is pointing the finger @ the US currently.. Maybe we should just let the other 4 nations have a go at it.
