Anyone taken any Online classes?
Don't have time to sit in classes, looking at some of the online B.S. degree programs.
Has anyone here taken any programs like this before? Was it worth it?
Thanks

Re: Anyone taken any Online classes?
I was supposed to take an online class but never did. However, i do have a friend that took Spanish through an online class...
i believe you just have to make sure you are disciplined enough to actually sign on and do the work...from my experience you either had a deadline or a due date for the specific work due that week or that semester and you just go and hand it in when you are done...she only took her tests and such in a classroom with the professor.
I'll try and find out more from her if you'd like...
Nevermind, just saw that you were asking about an online school...never knew anyone who did that; although i had a friend who looked into it. I'll ask around.

Re: Anyone taken any Online classes?
I've had 2 online classes before. Like AmorMiHombre said you have to be disciplined enough to sign on and do the work. The only thing I miss about "regular" courses is the people interaction. other wise I'd say go for it.

Re: Anyone taken any Online classes?
I would be careful about getting an entire degree from an "online university" instead look for a school in your area that is designed for busy peopel that offers online course work. Many collges now offer a large amount of course work on line and you end up with a degree that would be indistinguishable from one where you sat in class each week. I am currently working on my BS degree but I am not doing it online. I have class one day a week for 3 hours because that is all the time I can spare. It is not always easy but in the long run I think it will be worth it.

Re: Anyone taken any Online classes?
I took 2 online classes from the university of wisconsin. One was a communications 101 class and the other was a trig class. Words of wisdom: DON'T TAKE ONLINE MATH COURSES. The communications class was sweet, you basically just go through the lecture from home. We had a discussion class we had to attend in person.
If you're referring to one of those online degree programs then I don't know.

Re: Anyone taken any Online classes?
Well, from most of the places I looked, to get the degree, you have to complete about 15-20 courses...
One recruiter told me I could have it done in a year and a half. Of course, I later read some bad info on these guys getting in trouble for being a diploma mill (Kennedy-Western).
From most of the accredited places, I am looking at about 3-4 years. I guess not much different than a regular college...

Re: Anyone taken any Online classes?
Ive gotten a few certifications online, but no degrees that mean anything outside of my industry. But I have been curious. I have a friend who did the Phoenix Online schoo, and he loved it. Took him much less time than if he had gone to classes, and he even got his company to foot the bill.

Re: Anyone taken any Online classes?
I took an online class at U of Minn. It was an introductory class about Alcohol and College Life. Fairly simple and completed it in about 4 weekends, forgot about it for the rest of the semester.
Haven't taken any online degree/certification classes

Re: Anyone taken any Online classes?
There's good and bad points to it, like everything else. The great part is you don't have to leave your home, and can do your classwork at 2AM if you want. You have to be very serious about it though, because you're basically teaching yourself the material with some guidance from the instructor. Since there are alot of diploma mills out there, make sure the school you're interested in is an accredited university, or you're wasting you're hard earned $$$

Re: Anyone taken any Online classes?
That's what I'm trying to avoid. I don't want to have a degree on my wall that I didn't have to work for like everyone else.
Plus, I'm going to assume any prospective employers will know about these diploma mill schools also, and therefore not look highly upon me when I show up with one of their degrees...

Re: Anyone taken any Online classes?
I've taken several online courses before and have had a pretty good success rate. The trick is you just have to sit down everynight to check up on your course work. The hardest thing about online courses would have to be trying to do group work. Especially if your trying to work with someone who is three time zones away. As far as schools, just do your homework the same as you would if you were planning on actually going to class in person. In other words if they don't have a campus you can actually go to an visit if you wanted to, then you probably don't want to be there. Good luck with the search!
