Re: Good benchmark software

What do you want to benchmark?
For your video card, there is 3DMark03 (which is best for most card since 05 the card has to be pretty new, however 01 will work just fine on even a TNT2 to a point) wich benchmarks the Direct3D capabilities of the card. GL Excess works on all cards that supports OpenGL and test the capabilities of the OpenGL of the card.

SiSoftware Sandra is good for getting a good amount of detail about your system plus it has a number of benchmarks. But both parts are limited in the free version.

Not many reviews that I've read use this, but I like it. For AMD chips there is AMD N-Bench http://www.majorgeeks.com/download156.html which is completely free. The main idea is to benchmark the CPU but also gives the video card a test as well.
Also you can get all of the benchmarking tools I mentioned from that page, but for Sandra http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=92

And if none of those are what you're looking for, or you just want to see what else is out there, then MajorGeeks Benchmarking list http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads4.html is a good place to start.
