what are your toughts on the comercialization of the holidays? being St. Valentine day is probably the worse, did we already lost the sense of what those holidays meant?

I know everyone says it, but it seems we start celebrating Christmas earlier and earlier each year.

There also seems to be a trend to invent holidays for commercial profit. We have Secretaries Day, Earth Day, and countless other pointless holidays. This past year I heard about System Administrators day. Although I appreciate people recognizing my professional, I found it laughable.

Wasn't valentines day invented for economic and commercial purposes? That's what I've always thought, because there was such a gap between Christmas and Easter or whatever comes next after Valentines day.
