i was thinking about the latest news regarding the weather almost all over the country.. we have some areas in indiana under flood emergency warnings...

my question is,,, what people used to do before the government started giving money for those situations? how about the insurance companies, are not they suppose to be paying instead of help from the government? what happened to be responsible of your own decisions? (building or buying a house near a river you should think about flooding?)

it looks like we live in a socialist country where is a lot better to handle some money to people to make them happy, meanwhile we spend more in other projects (little wars, corporate welfare, etc.)

Indianapolis is a perfect example even if it is in a lower scale... we have a sewage system that sucks, we have a poor street maintenance (potholes), we have very bad public schools (some fo them do not even have ac), but we rather spend money giving to some people that built houses near a river or worse yet... building a stadium for some rich guys to play and for the owner of the team to reap more wealth...

Re: daddy government...

I see your point and agree...especially about the streets in indi. Some things though warrant relief. This summer for example we had severe flooding here in Pa during hurricane Ivans pass over our region. Some areas were hit worse than others. One place had flood waters 48 feet above flood stage...this was in a small river that is normally 1-2 feet deep maybe. Words cant explain, there were places I bet you could of been half a mile away and still been effected. Oh and I never went to a school with ac, not even college...lucky bastids.

Re: daddy government...

What I think should happen is the gov't not tax us as much and not give money out like this and let the citizens do with their money as they wish. I don't like "big brother".
