World of Warcraft is the best introduction to MMO's, but if you're active and aggressive in guilding/playing, it'll run out reasonably quickly. (they do add new content at an aggressive rate, but even so it becomes quite irritatingly repetitive.) I'd reccomend waiting for MMO's like Hellgate: London (more like DII than a standard MMO) or Huxley if you're looking for something which has a continually interesting endgame. (to me, this means useful, competitive, and skill-based PVP.)
