U.S. officials slammed Taiwan's moves towards independence from China.

"We don't want to see Taiwan moving toward independence. We don't want to see any unilateral moves in that direction," a senior U.S. official told reporters on Monday."

So? He simply state he didn't want to see any unilateral (intersting, guess who is being unilateral?) moves in that direction. What that is essentialy saying that if Taiwan were to be officially independent then it should only be by BIlateral agreement. This is being said because, as it says int he article, there is a referendum that is about to take place in Taiwan should it declare officialy its independence from China. In the same article: "Further complicating relations, the United States is Taiwan's main weapons supplier and has pledged to defend the island if it is attacked by China." Becoming less ambiguis on the issue does not mean that we are supporting China taking back Taiwan. This is politics buddy, America can't just say "fuck off China, Tawain ain't yours" and this is obviously b/c if we say something to that effect, WAR. Later on in the article "possible U.S. military action to help defend Taiwan will not deter Beijing from taking steps to thwart the island's independence moves." thanks yet again for another article that supports my arguement that there is a very high possibility of us goign to war with China sometime in the future.

Very high possibility of going to war with China? You are insane. It is a political chess match... that is all.

Re: THANK YOU Mr. Bush

You are calling me insane because I have presented a logical arguement that has so far yet to be disproven. This is not the same Cold War situation between the Soviet Union and America. For example, Russia did not consider Vietnam or Cuba its own territory during those crisis nor did we consider Afghanistan ours when Russia invaded it in 1980. China wants Taiwan back and has been aggresively pursuing that goal by firing missiles over and near Taiwan, building up sustantially on amphibious assault forces and practicing ambibious assaults right across the straight from Taiwan (remember when Clinton dispatched a carrier there in the late '90s?) ANd as it says in all the articles you have presented, America has commited itself to defend Taiwan and China wants to it back in spite of American deterrence.

We might view this as a political chess match but China certainly does not. Imagine if in some bizarre twist of history that after the American Civil War...Florida was an island and considered itself independent with Britain and France backing her up with weapons and pledges of assitance: do you think America would consider it just a chess-match?

When it comes down to it, the US will do everything in its power (short of starting a nuclear war) to prevent hostile actions of any sorts between China and Taiwan.

Please explain to me how I misinterpreted what you were saying, really, please. I wanna know how I did. And anywasy http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cach... +in+Iraq&hl=en
http://www.military.com/NewsContent..._102004,00.html

I wasn't say every military personnel was headed there, but as u can see from the numbers, the army and marines have 60% of their combat active duty IN iraq right now, that's quite a significant number. and also, the amount of troops we have in Iraq right now is barely sufficient, if not at all, to be able to carry out the duty they are assigned to in Iraq. http://query.nytimes.com/gst/abstra...90994DC4044 82

when you have over HALF of people in the military saying that we have underestimated the amount of troops needed in Iraq, that only reinforces what is goign on in Iraq, the Army desperately needs troops. period. And again, I am in ROTC and they have told us, if you're joining the army, you are most likely going to Iraq. end of story I ask?
