I'm Getting Homesick!
Well about three months ago my wife and I moved to Portland(about three hours away from where we lived before) because she got a job with Intel. We left back our family and alot of good friends. So now we are homesick and I was wondering if any of you have had a simular experience. How long did it take to get over it?? Let me know what I have to look forward to!

Re: I'm Getting Homesick!
Welp, I moved a bit farther (4 hours) and also for work purposes. Went from LA to Vegas. I left behind my parents and rest of my family, friends, friends with benefits, favorite bartenders, and the neighborhood hooligans. I got REALLY homesick...
for about 5 minutes. Then went to a bar and felt better.

Re: I'm Getting Homesick!
I am in the navy and we (me,wife and son) move around allot. You have to look at this as a great oppurtunity to meet new people and go to new places. I got home sick at first but you will learn that you can meet great people outside of your hometown and eventually have a second home. It's great to go back to the places I've been and know I have a second home.

Re: I'm Getting Homesick!
Korn,
I don't know if you ever really get over from being homesick. I mean, the feeling does fade and it's not so prominant in your mind after a few months but it's not a bad thing. It means you remember the good times of a familiar place and will be that much better when you go back to visit but don't let it keep you from making new memories where you are now. You can always visit where you came from but you can't get back the time you lose in the new place while missing the old one.

Re: I'm Getting Homesick!
i gotta tell you my mom was a hippy and a rolling stone. i never went to the same school 2yrs in a row until i moved out. my 3rd and 4 th yr of high school. i learned to deal by seeing it as an adventure or long vacation. I would go out and try ask people places to go. it's not expensive. or go out and get lost. "idle hands make make for devil's work" basically keep yourself occupied. works for me through tough times
