When I go to the store and know a person is illegal, I don't see the option where the tax is waived because of it.

Money sent to other countries is taxed as well.

I don't see why the Mexi-Am comment was necessary, there are also other types of illegal immigrants in so cal. Asians are the number one growing minority and Cali doesn't know how to react to it

No, this isn't about passing by a group of people. This is going out to dinner with people, who all share a common language, while a few in the group decide to speak in a language that the rest of the group doesn't understand. Working in a group of americans, spanish, asians and others, english is the language we share, because we happen to be in an english speaking area. When you are in a group or in conversation with people that share a common language, it's rude to speak in a language that everyone doesn't understand, it's the same as whispering.

oh yeah, another time in high school i was talkin to a mexican girl and i said "... spanish people ..." and she got pissed at me tellin me spanish is a language not the people and movin her head side to side

I think he's referring to income and state tax. If there working here illegally, then most likely there being paid under the table.

I know he meant that, and I meant to corect him that we ALL pay taxes regardless. ALL illegals get paid under the table as it is illegal to hire these people. BUT, not all of them skip on taxes, in fact, a lot of them that use fake SSN's can file for a return using a temp number issued by the IRS. This temp SSN is not a working permit, but simply a dummy number so the IRS can file their W-2's and not confuse them for another identity. Trust me on this, I've seen it first hand. The one's that don't know about this, simply don't file for a return and thus the government actually makes more money off of them than a legal citizen/resident because their tax bracket would allow them a return and their employer has automatically over taxed them on their pay roll. The ones that get paid cash, someone has to report where that money is going, so, the boss's have already gotten taxed on this.

I've seen more creative tax returns from legal citizens/residents, but I digress. This thread was about language, not about taxes.

This is more a question of etiquette. Was it right for the guy to talk about the mexican men for speaking to each other? NO. But like any other biggot it's just poor etiquette.

All comments and observations very valid and understandable. I would hope people keep in mind the only people deserving of calling this land (country) theirs, are the native peoples. Just because indviduals choose to speak another language in public does not necassarially mean they don't speak English. English is not an easy language to learn.... remember learning English in school???? yuk. lol
