Artest Suspended For Entire Season
So now after the brawl in Detriot, Stern has shelled out some crazy suspensions. Of course Ron Artest of the Pacers getting the worst by being suspended the rest of the season. Do you think this is a fair judgement made by Stern or do you think its a little too harsh?

Re: Artest Suspended For Entire Season
living in indy... kind of sucks... but i think it was fair the decision by the commisioner... pacers pretty much are out of contention this year but... they deserve it...
there where some articles here last week regarding how much time was artest giving to his rapper career... now he comes with this..
while the actions by the fans were horrible, the reaction by the indiana pacers was completly un-professional... they should show better judgment and be cool even on those kind of situations
just think if any wrestler would be jumping into the grades every time someone insults him or throw something at him?
while I think the pacers sanctions are reight and it should be hold... i also think the detroit management should be sanctioned for the conduct of their fans and for the lack of security... maybe 20 games with no public allowed on their games?
situations like this happens a lot on mexican futbol stadiums... but over there also the sanction the home team wher it hurts the most... no public allowed... consequences... more security on place
another possible solution to this would be the restriction of alcohol on sport venues, maybe stop selling beer after half of the games? let's remember, these are no bars
I hope this gets over soon... as i mentioned ,,, living in Indy sucks.... you see nothing in tv without that video showing up....

When I was watching it, I said that Artest will never see the basketball court again. I think he got off easy.

Re: Artest Suspended For Entire Season
I happen to agree with Lorill. When i saw that I thought he should be kicked out of Basketball and charged with assault. He has only solidified my opinion by showing no remorse or regret in the following week. Every TV press conference he has had about the incident has ended with him either promoting his album or elluding to appeal of the suspension.
I also think that rescriting alcohol at the events is agood idea however i don't believe it will be enacted due to the large sums of money for sponsership many professional teams receives from beer companies.
I hope this ends soon as well and that things change because of this.

I agree. With so many other talented players in the NBA, who needs sh*t like that. I think the NBA should ban him for life. He's an embarassment to the leauge.

I think that Artest did lose his cool, but he had a right to a fan threw a cup at him. You mean to tell me you would be fine with it and not blow your top

I agree, Artest should never se fot on a pro court ever again. These athletes need to be shown that they are not above justice, and that athletic ability isnt a ticket to get out of trouble

Re: Artest Suspended For Entire Season
David Stern as usual overstepped his bounds in handing out these ridiculous suspensions. Not only has he created a business model that amplifies player salaries so we have to sell all the good seats at $100+ each to corporations to stay even, he thinks that it's ok for fans to do whatever they want if they purchase these ridiculously high-priced seats.
Don't get me wrong, Artest is certainly wrong for charging into the stands, especially since he went after the wrong guy (he tried to hit somebody who still had a cup in his hands).... but the suspensions are ridiculous. 30 games for Artest, no more than 10 at max for everybody else. He even suspended Reggie Miller for trying to stop the fights....
David Stern has to start protecting the players AND the fans.... let's get some new rules regarding acceptable fan behavior, because the things that are said and done at some games are completely inappropriate. Both sides should be held accountable, but basically these guys now face prosecution and the loss of hundreds of thousands of dollars. The guy who threw the chair should be the only one prosecuted, and everything else needs to work itself out.
Maybe now fans will think twice about what they say, unless they're just looking for an assault payday.
