i was listening to the radio last night, and they were talking about this national identity card and about the use of microchips on persons... they said that already they are on place (mentioned that over 1K mexicans were implanted chips in order to get job authorizations)

what are your toughts on those? will it make the USA safer? state control? pure fiction? just keep it decent

That's the first thing that came to mind when I heard it. Funny thing, the chips are both, as far as I know, being implimented in Texas and Florida.

It can't do anything other than help. It's just another way to identify who someone is. Would help to identify victims of crimes and whatever else. Just think, you walk up to the METRO or Airport, put your palm against an infared screen, and it grabs your fingerprints and ID from the chip to give you access. Sounds like a great idea to me.

Also, to people who have certain medical conditions, all that information would be stored on it as well, so when 911 scans your chip, they will know your allergies, blood type, and whatever else if you ever need Emergency medical attention.

medical data, id data, medical records, fianacial info and credit, and gps are sypposedly the uses for this kind of chips

for me that is giving too much control to soembody... probably they will get some "nice" promotions for people to get those.. like 30 % discounts on something... or worse yet... just make them mandatory if you want to fly or use them instead of a passport... scary
