I heard this quote on CNN none-the-less (yes, I was watching it.. switching between it and Fox for who thought who was gonna win). I think it's really applicable and something we should ALL take to heart.

The guy was talking in general about the upcoming election and he said that.. (paraphrasing) 'Now that it is done and we are going to have to wait and see who won I hope Americans can do something I'm going to be doing. I promise to support the President I didn't vote for and critisize the one I did.'

I thought that was an awesome quote and something that really applies. All is said and done, so it's pointless to argue over it anymore. What's done is done. So at least maybe we can come together as a people and make sure Dubya doesn't screw up in supporting and (constructively ) critisizing him. Make our voices so loud he and the Republican majorities cannot ignore us.

True. I'm a Republican and did not really care for Kerry but i respected his concession speech in that he called the country to come together. That's what we need. Whether you like bush or not we're all still Americans. Also, even though I am an (R) I still think a balance of power is good for our government so by al means speak out and make yourselves heard.

When Bush proves to me that he's more than a Frat Boy in office, then he will gain my respect.

Dude, you act like he ows you something. The way I was raised, you show respect to your elders and superiors. I don't give a fuck if that makes me sound like an old fogey, but ACT RIGHT! The way you portray yourself with all this, Bush is such a twat and he deserves none of my respect etc...well I don't see you getting too far in life. Reason being, your boss might be a douchebag, will you quit your job because of it?

I'm off to the real world now too

Re: Something I think everyone should read.

When I'm my own boss, it doesn't matter. You can't just automatically respect someone because he is the leader. The way *I* was raised, you stand up for what you believe. And I believe this man is a terrible president. If my boss was a douche, I would live with it. Good thing Bush can't fire me, huh? And, he DOES owe me something. He owes EVERYONE in this country something. He owes us truth, he owes us more than he has done in the last fourt years. His whole presidency was based on Iraq. He didn't do much of anything else. He owes everyone.

Jimi, you are a cool person when you don't talk politics. I wish you luck in your business, whatever it is.

Re: Something I think everyone should read.

He owes EVERYONE! That's what a president is. The president is about the people, not about being in power. Maybe that's where our loss in translation is. He owes YOU Juan, he owes you, shade, he owes the Americans. Thus far, he just hasn't pulled through.

And Juan, I understand I get heated about politics, but it's just something that I believe in 100%. I absolutely love this country, and I want nothing but the best for it. I don't think that throwing our weight around helps us any.

Just making sure you weren't taking my comments to heart, pops. We cool.

IMHO he owes the people that respect him as our leader. He owes the people that cast a vote to elect him. He owes the people that didn't vote for him, but support his decisions as our countries Comander in Chief.

To those that say he sucks, he's an idiot, make fun of his grammer, his southern accent, his vulnerability as a human being to call someone a major league asshole, his monkey face, his clutziness, to those flag burning, protesting, and baby killing tards out there living off of our countries success and reaping the benefits that our leaders allow them...the President doesn't owe them SQUAT! You people have to understand that he alone doesn't make all the decisions. He has his cabinet, he has mentors, he is the voice of MANY. There is so much the President isn't told by informants and agencies that it, ofcourse, makes him sound like an idiot.

Grammar! 150 my ass!

Naw, I understand people get heated often in politics. Anything said in a political debate, generally, has nothing to do with anything outside of the debate. Of course, with a few exceptions.

I don't believe that at all. I believe whoever is the president in office always owes the american people something. Whether it be to defend us, the truth on matters that affect us, or to better ourselves through technological advances and research, etc. You can't say a president doesn't owe the american people jack...that's just not the truth.

On a side note. I didn't vote for Bush. But sitting here and crying about it isn't going to do a damn thing. So what am I going to do? I am going to voice my opinion on matters that I believe in and protest those that I believe are not in the best interest of the american people. I will try and do my part whether its in times I support the president on a certain issue or not. I will not however go out a sore loser, Bush is the president...it's time to take this to heart and start supporting your causes rather than cry about what you did or didn't get. Support your causes, and if they don't come out how you want, then try again next time. Don't like how the election came out...did you even voe yourself? If not, start by blaming yourself on how the election came out, but don't in any circumstance begin to degrade the american people by continually bashing our elected president. Take my rant as what you will, but its time we begin to pull together rather than being so divided, support your causes but support them in good taste. Thats my 2 cents!
