Ok, so another small rant. I'm so sick of people using Kerry's Vietnam war experience, and demonstrations against him. As history has shown, people believed the things Kerry said, withouth even knowing that Kerry said anything. Look at movies like Apocolypse Now, Platoon, Full Metal Jacket, etc... People didn't think we were innocent in the war, and they didn't think it was a ride on a merry-go-'round. People thinking that now, after 35 years is just ignorant. People who lived back then, who saw the demonstrations in daily life, must have forgotten how many people were against the war then. People were shooting women, children, old men, all kinds of people other than just soldiers. My uncle was in Vietnam. He even says they happened. He says the soldiers were told to do these things.... which is EXACTLY what Kerry said. Nobody disputed this when he was running for Senate. But all of a sudden, no one believes it? The Bush admin has people blinded! Bush didn't even go! HE doesn't know what happened there! The closest he's gotten to war was a KKK rally!

I think people should conentrate more on the issues at hand, such as how Bush has handled the war, and what he's actually done in office, or not done.

amen on that one jimi... it is a shame that this probably will be one of the worse electoral campaigns, where they spent too much time and energy concentrating on the negative aspects of both parties instead of focusing on what they would DO if elected

in this age where communication is instantaneous (sp?) and the media very powerfull it was bad the loose so many opportunities...

I just think he overuses his purple heart shit.. and I trust the 30+ people I am connected to who were in Vietnam to tell me the truth. Some shit went down, some commanders were morons, but not everyone.

Re: Vietnam

to people forgetting about the Vietman/Air National Guard issue.

Some Kerry supporters out there seem to think that Bush couldn't have been deployed in the National Guard. That's getting on my nerves because that is ignorant to think that.

Well... just this one. Why does it interest you so much that you want another one? The first thread I started was about Kerry's medals. This one has nothing to do with Kerry's medals, but the events that happened in Vietnam. Do you have anything constructive to say, or are you just gonna bitch at every post I start?

Re: Vietnam

It was a question pure and simple. Sorry to burst your bubble, but they are essentially the same threads. I always have something constructive to say, you just don't like it.

Re: Vietnam

They aren't anything alike. This thread has to do with the actual actions IN Vietnam done by soldiers, which movies were based on, and everyone knew was happening. This has nothing to do with Kerry's medals. Now, since I had to actually seperate that out for you, you done with that bitching I was talking about? And, you haven't had anything constructive to say thus far. All you do is tell me I'm lying, or say I don't know what I'm talking about when I lay my proof right out for you.

Re: Vietnam

a person that serves our country, whether its on the front line or behind a desk, on the ground or in the air.....they all serve our country and we should respect all of them for doing so.

a person that has seen combat is no better than a person that hasnt. anyone thats ever served in any branch of our military knows that every single person has a role, and every one of those roles is just as important in achieving success on or off the battle field.

i hate how both candidates have dealt with the situation that the media brought upon them.....but most people ive met that have served our country were proud and honored to have done it. theres no honor in Kerry trying to prove that he was in Vietnam or that he deserved certain medals, and theres no honor in Bush trying to prove that he was even in the National Guard.

so my answer....i dont consider either of them to have served for our country...because to do that, i think that takes honor, something both candidates have proved they have none of

I don't care what Kerry did at war. I question his patriotism after he returened home. A few POW's who were shown footage of his demontrations with Hanoi (sp) Jane question him too.

Re: Vietnam

Jase, he did the same thing MANY people did when they came back! HE told the truth. What he did was ntohing compared to Jane Fonda. Have you actually seen this guy's speeches? Have you seen what he is actually about? I'm not talking about his presidential campaign, I'm talking about political speeches 10, even 20 years ago. After Vietnam, he was voicing what many soldiers did not. Movies are based on the same subjext matter, and no one complained about those movies, many people said the same things Kerry said, and no one complained about that. We know these things happened. They are happening in Iraq right now. When someone comes back from Iraq and tells what actually is going on there, are you going to call them less of an American because they are speaking what they saw?
