It's just him expressing his opinion and making a buck. I think the most effect it could have is inspiring someone enough to get off their ass and vote when they otherwise wouldn't have.

People defend him by saying, "like him or not he has the balls to says what he thinks." He will do that until someone challenges him on it. I don't remember the song but it was extremely anti-gay and when people critisized him for it he didn't say cry all you want its my opinion and I'm not afraid to say it. He did the exact opposite! He kept saying that when he said kill all those fucking faggots because they take it up the ass, he didn't really mean gays he meant people in general. Then he tucked his dick between his legs and did a concert with Elton John. He doesn't stand for anything. He says controversial things to sell records not because he is so noble to use his celebrity powers for good.
