Solaris command help
I'm having some trouble with my Solaris machine. I recently migrated my network to a new subnet and I have one single solaris machine that I need to reconfigure the TCP/IP settings. I've changed every file (both the main file and any redundancies) to reflect the correct information. When I view the configuration settings, the correct IP information is displayed. But the machine still will not connect to the network. When I try to do a ping, it tells me that the destination is unreachable from this IP, and then it displays the old IP from the old subnet. Does anyone know the the command to reset the configuration and start from scratch, or the command line syntax to configure IP, subnet mask, gateway and DNS settings?

Re: Solaris command help
ifconfig for ip config
dns is in the resolv.conf
there are a few services you have to restart when you change ips its easier to reset the box if its not a live box

Re: Solaris command help
Yeah, I've never done it via the gui before. I used the ifconfig command earlier, but it doesn't seem to want to work. Thanks for you help, though.

Re: Solaris command help
Solaris? On this board?
Change your hosts IP in your /etc/hosts file and then your gateway in /etc/defaultrouter . Restart your inetinit service with "/etc/init.d/inetinit stop" then "/etc/init.d/inetinit start" and it should re-establish your routing tables for you.

Re: Solaris command help
how about grep for the old settings and see where they are... who can remember where all of the diff. OS's store stuff anyway?
try grep-ing for the old gateway see what you can find... then change the settings
//not a solaris god, so I'm not much help

Re: Solaris command help
Why grep for it? The gateway's contained in /etc/defaultrouter on Solaris....

Re: Solaris command help
In the past I've used the sys-unconfig command to reset all the network settings on solaris boxes.
